Well it works quite well. Only found two “bugs” I think are annoying: 1. Sometimes if you fire to many request towards the service it gives an error. another is the turn off light modus. This Boolean I would like to be able to set from home assistant for my child’s but doesn’t respond. Overal I am very pleased.
Working perfect for more than a year
Only problem is the light switch. It isn’t working .
This wifi dongle is the “internet” gateway so you can use it with lg app probably? How does it integrate with HA, locally, or trough LG cloud?
I assume
In-Roof Wi-Fi Dongle: PWFMDD201 (model LCW-005)
is mandatory? Just trying to sort this out before I buy, my technician suggested to use GREE, they have inbuild wifi modules and I saw there is an integration in the core already, but I’m looking into better options.
Yeah the dongle is 100% mandatory. Without that you cant give your AC an IP address - and it all starts there for remote control of it. No idea re GREE but LG has barely missed a beat with HA for like 5 years now. Theres one of two rough edges but thats down to the LG API (eg a little bit laggy) more than anything else. Ive got zone control too so im living the dream of AC automation.
FYI, I did a thorough research on how to get these dongles at a decent price (I have 5 duct units in my home, so this gets very expensive).
Turns out that the best option is to buy this from LG Korea themselves. 55,000₩ are roughly $42.
It is not possible to buy it directly (a Korean phone # is required for identification), but there are freight companies like Delivered Korea, that can take care of the whole transaction for you (for $5 handling fee and 8% processing fee). It might not be worth the hassle if you have just one AC, but in my case it has cut down the price by 70% (primarily because the local price here is crazy high).
I’m new to HA and have a lot to understand. I just test LGThinQ and my 2 HVAC do not work. I can start them but that’s it. I cannot modify the temperature of power off the device, I briefly see an error. My AC model is LSN120HSV5.
Any idea what I’m doing wrong ?
Hello,
I bought this set: And I’m quite satisfied with it, only the 9000 version seems to be overridden by the 12000 versions. The 9000 only works when I’m not using the 12000. Using both 12000 versions simultaneously is not a problem.
Groetjes,
Niels
Hello . I am about to buy the same type of outdoor and indoor units. Just wanted to ask if they integrate well with HA and also if you have ever considered local control e.g. via GitHub - georgezhao2010/midea_ac_lan: Auto-configure and then control your Midea M-Smart devices (Air conditioner, Fan, Water heater, Washer, etc) via local area network. or something
