Most Compatible Z-Wave Thermostat

I am looking for the most out of the box compatible zwave thermostat for HA Green. That is, no tweaks for all it’s features to work.

I have the Go Control GC-TBZ48 but it doesn’t report ambient temperature. I purchased the Honeywell TH6320ZW2007/U as a backup today.

I understand that I can poll the GC-TBZ48 to get it to report ambient temperature but I am not sure how to do that yet.

Does the Honeywell TH6320ZW2007/U work without tweaks after it’s installed as a device?

If not, what is the most compatible standard HVAC Z-Wave thermostat for the HA Green?

Honeywell T6 is my go to (I think it is same as what you listed)

Works out of box
I used trane as well but Honeywell is better

Not sure if any unit that requires tweaking but sure some exist maybe

I have had that Go Control thermostat for several years and it works great.

What do you mean by ‘it doesn’t report ambient temperature’?

Did everything work with the T6? You didn’t have to tweak anything correct? Appreciate your response.

No tweaks needed

Show temp/humidity
Auto heat/cool
Set time possible
Fully config in ui

Why did you tag me with NOTHING???

Sorry I didn’t mean to do that.

It always says 68 degrees on the app even when the panel says other temperatures. I also noticed that the Z-wave network installed indicator icon does not display on the panel when connected to HA as it did when connected to Vera. I attached a screen shot of the indicator in the bottom right corner. It doesn’t show up now as it used to.

Also, It’s been reported in other posts that a change to the zwave.js fixes it but I don’t want to mess with the system. I want something that works without tweaks.

Here is excerpt from that post.

I stumbled upon this post which prompted me to upgrade from Z-Wave JS to Z-Wave JS UI and then add the thermostat to Association Group 1. That has fixed this problem: temperature is now automatically updated in the thermostat card.

Odd. I am not seeing anything that you have posted.

Mine updates fine in HA. The Z-Wave indicator is on in the display. I have not made any tweaks for this. I have had it for three ish years in two houses.

Can you show a screen shot from the app? And, the code to your dashboard for the card?

I don’t know how to find the code. How do I get that?

Here is the screenshot. It’s 66 degrees at the panel but it shows 68

The app will turn on and off the Go Control even though the zwave icon doesn’t show up.

Oh, you posted this in another thread recently about the size of the card.

So, that is the overview dashboard which I believe is auto built by HA. Unfortunately, looking at the code for that dashboard, it is …

type: original-states

Based on that, I don’t think it matters what thermostat you have. It will do the same thing.

It is time to build your own dashboard.

Yeah. That one I am not sure about. Mine has the Z-Wave icon on the screen.

Go to Settings | Devices & services | Z-Wave and select your device.

What does the Air temperature sensor show?

It shows 68 and the panel shows 66.

Under the Controls it shows +1 disabled entity and the disabled entity is fan.z_wave_plus_thermostat.

Does that need to be enabled?

Strange! Did you buy it new or used? How much time do you want to spend on this? I can have you look at a couple deep settings if you want.

Yeah. Mine has always shown that too. You can enable it if you want to turn the fan on and off for circulation. Not necessary though.

Here are the settings of the Go Control. Are yours the same?

I set everything at the default.

So, the one that concerns me is parameter 46. But, that should only matter if parameter 43 is not zero.

In my previous house, the thermostat was in a place that when it got to temp, the living room was NOT comfortable. So, I had a temp sensor in the living room and I would update 46 with the current temp of that sensor. But, to do that, 43 was set at 1 instead of 0.

I think I am stuck at trying to help now. Maybe flip 43 to 1 and back to 0. Not sure what else.
