Music Assistant 2.0: Your Music, Your Players

The UI or an automation? There isn’t a dedicated card at this time. Refer to the docs for more information.

Plan was to access music from my new lenovo thinksmart view but wothout the full kiosk browser.
Just straight access.
Will try again to get any info from the manual.

Search the docs for 8095 as enabling that port may be what you are after

In case you aren’t aware, it runs in a browser.

Question so basic I’m almost afraid to ask it here but…with HAOS using the beta add-on (the b15), should the HA integration be installed or only the add-on?

Same question for the HACs integration, any issues if I remove it? Project is moving so quickly.

Thank you

The HA integration is made available via HACS. You can remove it but you won’t have any if the features it provides.

Thank you, I guess that means the entities will not be available to home assistant.

That is correct

Thx for the answer…
I think the problem i see/have is, that i can get to the server web ui…but i dont understand the concept of the players…all i want is playing musik from my nas…so, simple get to a page, select a title and let it rip…
maybe i am thinking to simple or to complicated, but i cant get anything to play.
But i will keep reading…

@Darkyputz What you are probably missing is the “Player Providers”. You have to tell it what you want to play on. As it is not really part of HA then you need to tell it that it can play to HA.

Go to setting and Add Player Provider. Pick stuff from the list (which includes HA)

Hello…
After checking with someone who had it working already i was able to get a software installed on the device that i want to play from that is “accepted” from music assistant as player provider.
snapcast is the app in android, free and works…
thx alot for patience with me as a noob…

Thank you for the addon release candidate for MA. Unfortunately I still have the bug where launching MA using version: 2.1.0rc1 takes me to the settings page.

This is amusing, but not useful

Google cast (Chromecast) player question.

  1. I have player chromecast in HA, and I added it to MA via HA Plugin Provider, but I see there is Chromecast plugin provider in MA itself. So question is, can I just use builtin Chromecast plugin and player directly? I don’t see any settings for ip to set up it like in HA Google cast.

  2. Looks like firewall blocking casting from MA container but casting from HA container works. Are there some particular ports should be open? I can only change volume, but there is no sound.

I have this floating mini player idea with compact list of tracks that you can hide, and you can move this mini player around.

Similar to PIP video player in the browser. What do you think?

You will be better off with the MA player.

Settings Page improvements:

  1. List view for Providers, Players, Core, UI settings with a text labels. Icons only at the top are confusing to navigate imo.

  2. Add Settings to the left menu panel, where Home, Search, etc

No MA support is available for non standard network installs.

As @nickrout said if there is a native MA player available then that should be used, support for HA versions of those player types is not available.

The settings page used to have text labels but was changed based on user feedback.

I removed HA Plugin Provider, reloaded builtin MA Chromecast but I see no players. And no settings to add player manually like in HA.
