New Install - HA Not Updating?

I recently installed HA Green and am trying to set up the Vivint integration through HACS. When I attempted to install it (Vivint), I got an error saying my current Home Assistant version isn’t supported. I’m currently running version 2024.9.2 (2024.881), and the Vivint integration requires 2024.11.0 or newer.

I went to Settings > System > Updates to check for any updates, but it says there are no updates available. I tried refreshing, but no updates appeared. I also restarted Home Assistant and even shut it down completely, but still no luck.

Has anyone else encountered this or know how I can manually trigger the update? Any advice on getting my system to detect the latest version would be appreciated!

Hi Cory, welcome to the forum!

Check you network settings, especially DNS.

We are currently at 2024.10.4

2024.11.0 is the november release, which is expected on first wednesday of the month…

They should at least get offered HA 2024.10.4

You could install a previous version or wait until HA 2024.11 is released (which is the day after tomorrow)

I’ll check the DNS settings tonight and let you know what I find. I also noticed something interesting with the version display.

On my MacBook, when I go to Home Assistant > About Home Assistant, it shows “Home Assistant Companion 2024.9.2 (2024.881) Awaken Your Home”—this is the version I initially referenced. However, when I looked in Settings > About, it displays the following:

• Core: 2024-10-4

• Supervisor: 2024-10-3

• Operating System: 13.2

• Frontend: 20241002.4

It seems like I might actually be running the latest version. I’m just unsure why it shows two different versions in separate places. Any insights on why the Home Assistant Companion app version and the Core version would differ like this?

Also, thanks for the update on when the 2024.11.0 release is expected—really appreciate the info!

The companion app is a client application for your server and apparently, this is what gets installed on a mac system.
The version numbers are not synced between the client & server software.

You can find the latest info here: https://www.home-assistant.io/blog/
On Wednesdays, when the new version is released, there is a live stream/release party that you can follow @ 20:00 GMT / 12:00 PT / 21:00 CET

I checked the DNS settings and didn’t find any issues there.

Good to know I’m indeed on the latest version of Home Assistant—thanks for confirming that. I’ll wait for the new update release to see if that resolves the issue with installing the Vivint integration.

I also tried downloading older versions of the Vivint integration, but I encountered the same error each time. Looks like I’ll need to hold out for 2024.11.0 to try it again. Thanks for all the help!

Isn’t vivent a custom integration? Ask the author on their GitHub.

My system can`t find any updates either.

ha supervisior update

brings

Error: No supervisior update available - 2024.9.1

My System is

  • Core: 2024.9.1
  • Supervisor: 2024.09.1
  • Operating System: 13.1
  • Frontend: 20240906.0

Any ideas?

For the unable to pull updates - There is a system issue doing that this morning Update of Supervisor failed version 2024.11.3 · Issue #5405 · home-assistant/supervisor · GitHub. Be patient.

My problem is different:

  1. I’m on 2024.9.1
  2. Mine says that it can’t find any updates

Updates all come from the same place. They very much could be related. They already figured out the other issue and it’s stabilizing… Let this clear about an hour or so and if it’s still there then dig into it. Then YOU KNOW it’s jot the same issue. So. Patience then see if it’s still there.

Thanks, I will.

But I doubt it because I didn’t get any updates shown since my version and i open Home Assistant on my iPhone and iPad a few times a day

My doubts were correct. I still don’t get any updates

I did got a update but the result is not good after restart:

So, what does the config look like and what does the logs say?

What Logs do you mean? And what should I search for?

I searched for „update“ in „Home Assistant Core“ and couldn’t find anything.

Then I looked inside „Supervisior“ Log and found this:

2024-11-14 15:24:36.121 WARNING (MainThread) [supervisor.jobs] ‘Updater.fetch_data’ blocked from execution, no supervisor internet connection

In the „Host“ Log I found this:

2024-11-14 14:24:41.288 pihomeassistant dockerd[669]: time=“2024-11-14T14:24:41.288313271Z” level=error msg=“[resolver] failed to query external DNS server” client-addr=“udp:172.30.232.2:58479” dns-server=“udp:10.150.0.203:53” error=“read udp 172.30.232.2:58479->10.150.0.203:53: i/o timeout” question=“;checkonline.home-assistant.io.\tIN\t A” spanID=89161f50254a16d8 traceID=fd753d2610abd887823d87206d075970

Please be more precise on what and where to look.

Did you read this?

Yes.

But I don’t know why. I don’t even know how to change that.

Can anybody tell me how to change that?
