New Version of Tank Utility (Generac Propane Monitor)

Tank Utility (now sold as Generac Tank Utility) has had a legacy integration in to Home Assistant for some time, and it was really lacking. It only provided details on the propane level, and even that was not great. The installed was fully manual, and took a lot on non-UI steps.

So, I took this on as my first ever Home Assistant project to develop updated code utilizing the app.generacfuel.com API. (formerly known as app.tankutility.com)

I only have a legacy WIFI module, so I am unable to test with the new LTE devices that Generac sells (the ones with the $15/yr fee).

Please - Check it out - Let me know your thoughts, and provide any feedback you may have.

Currently requires manual installation, but if someone wants to help me with the process of getting it on HACS, that would be great.

There’s also another better solution that doesn’t have recurring fees available on the market.

Hooks up via REST API direct and gives all the data from the tank monitoring unit. No recurring fees on the tank monitor and it’s solar powered, which is great since we’re only at our place half the year.

Once you purchase the unit, they give you the credentials needed to hook up HA via REST API. Super straight forward, took me 15 minutes to hook it up.

You can check them out here www.centriconnect.com

There’s also an HA forum thread on integrating these here: LINK
