On Boarding Issue

Hi, newbie here. trying to set up HA on a Pi3. Downloaded to SD, connected to internet, etc. but cant get passed Create Account, it either just does nothing (or when I try in incognito just greys out and sits there). I have reinstalled 4 times now and searched the forum for an answer, but at a complete dead end… any help appreciated.

Also cleared all cache, cookies, etc.

What does http://homeassistant.local:4357 show?

If I try opening that in a new tab it just comes up with:

This site can’t be reached

Should I be able to access this without logging in?

What did you download/install? HaOS? 32/64bit?

I just followed the steps int he Pi installation instruction, as below. I didn’t see any choices for 32 or 64, should I have?:

No, should be fine (default is 64bit).

So you have the latest and greatest HaOS (and by the looks) correctly written to SD card and it boots into the onboarding screen like expected.

This should actually show the “system health” like this:

If you restart your raspberry and try directly to reach the observer (without opening the onboarding first) does that then output something?

As in reinstall on the SD card and check on http://homeassistant.local:4357 before doing any onboarding?

The thing looks correctly written to the SD card otherwise you would never reach the onboarding screen at all but stuck already earlier:

You also might want to try to attach a screen :tv: maybe it will output some log and points to a error (like a grid lock sd card for example)

That link seems to work before I start the onboarding process. Anything i should check or do next before hand? the main onboarding seems to go through, I cannot get passed the User Name and Password page, than as you alluded to the below link stops working?

Many thanks

Looks good :+1: System is healthy (first thing to confirm when having troubles like onboarding).

Nothing left really, you need to pass the onboarding process now

Sounds good. What if you enter user+pass now that you created in the onboarding to login?

No, the observer should always be available - even when the main HA web ui is down

What log is would this be, I have not made it passed the create log in and password before?

Cheers.

I thought you succeeded setting user+pass and that the system then ask’s you to log in.

Any chance you can try another browser or maybe de-active some browser add-ons which might interfere with the site?
