OpenZWave configuration question

Hey guys,

short question. I hope someone can answer it!

I got a different USB config a in the OpenZWave integration. In the integration the config is displayed like this (I figured out that it work much better when the full usb stick path is deployed in the config, with the ttyACM0 path somethimes the integration cant connect).

In OpenZWave it looks like this:

Is that a problem? Because I am not able to add a node to the Z-Wave network. The stick (Aeontec Gen5) is searching for new nodes but never find anything…

The owz log only shows:

Maybe I am doing something wrong? The Zigbee Integration is working fine with the whole usb path.

Thanks!

Which Start button did you click on? You’re supposed to use the one in the Remote section, and the USB path is not used. Using the Local Client will blow things up since two processes will be accessing the stick at the same time.

Hey,

I am using the “Start” Button for Remote OZWDaemon. When I press the “Start” Button for the local client, the application just shut down and I am back on the first window.

Did it just shut down, or did it first give you an error message about increasing the network cache?

I thought it just shut down. But I checked the logs, this happends after I use start for the local client:

Try increasing the network cache size before you connect to the Zwave stick. See here:

I’m not certain that this is what lies at the root of your issue, but it might be worth trying…

Thanks for that tipp. But the first start button does nothing, even after the change. Only the second start shows me the interface, but there nothing happend if I press add node.

Er, just what are you trying to do here?

Are you trying to Add a Node to the ZWave network?

If so, then once you click the “Add Node” in the OZWadmin window, you need to go to the new Zwave device and (usually) press a physical button on the device once or three times (whatever the instructions say) to get the new node included in the network.

Ă„hm, yeah thats what I am trying to do

But there is no feedback from the device. I thought my first zwave device was broken, so I bought a second one to test it (a smart plug from aeotec) but also this device will not be added…

image

This is the only screen I see, I can press what I want on my device. The paring mode from the smart plug is active when you plug it in or press the button to times.

But it will not shown as new node.

Perhaps the device is too far away from the controller?

Zwave stick is on my desk, the device is under the desk. I thought that too at the beginning

OK - then let’s take a step back. Are the device and the controller both using the same region wavelengths?

So the Stick is a Aeotec Z-Stick Gen5 Model: ZW090-C (868.42 MHz) and the plug also uses 868.42 Mhz and the second device has a range from 868.4 - 869.8 MHz.

Maybe the model from the Z-Stick is not working? Never read about the ZW090-C here

EDIT: I already plugged it in to an usb-hub because I read about a issue with the PI4, but I am not sure if this model is supported by OZW.

Ah - right. Well, two things. the ZW090-C is definitely the EU model. But, there is certainly an issue about the older Gen5 stick not working properly with the RPi4. That may be the root of the issue here.

I actually purchased an Aeotec Gen5+ stick and migrated my ZWave network from the older Gen5 stick to the Gen5+ model because of this issue.

Yeah maybe thats it. I read a lot about it the last hours and there was many solutions about that stick with the usb hub. But its not working for everyone. Maybe I am the one where it does not work.

I ordered a Gen5+ stick, but it will be shipped from china  Maybe I have to wait for that. Thanks anyway for your help! I can play around with zigbee the conbee 2 is works great. :slightly_smiling_face:
