Please help/ invalid cofig without making changes!

Have had some errors come up after the last reboot following some changes made. this is the notification i am getting.

Invalid config

The following integrations and platforms could not be set up:

• recorder
• history
• logbook
• default_config

Please check your config.

I have not changed any of the items above, is there a reason this has happened, and what can i do to get it back. Made quite a few changes today, and didnt do the snapshot before this happened. Starting to get very frustrated with HASS and getting it set up properly.

Post your config properly formatted. Post your logs showing any errors. Post what version you’re running and your install method. Without information, your guess is as good as mine and I’m guessing it was aliens at this point.

While you didn’t make changes to those specific components, any changes you made to other components could impact them. These components may rely on components you changed recently and those changes have broken the component and are preventing these specific ones from starting up properly. Another possibility is an unintentional update was performed while rebooting and there is a breaking change in your config you failed to address.

I do see several errors, but i am not sure what they mean if i am honest.

I do appreciate people give up their time to help oithers, which is why I do where I can, although these are only real simple basic things right now as I learn about this. Items i have found out and may help another nooby.

Lots of errors come from node-red. Can you try to disable node-red, restart and see whether the errors still appear?
This topic discusses a possible solution foe this issue.

Thanks for the idea, I was looking at that thread as you messaged earlier. I have stopped node red and still get lots of errors. Dont have any more time to spend on it tonight(the wife factor has come in to effect!) So will have more of a look tomorrow. Didnt do anything on node red today, so seems a bit odd something may come up now???

Please post the errors you get with noe3-red disabled. Can you please also post your configuration.yaml (with sensitive information redacted!).

That looks like the supervisor log, not the homeassistant log. That’s not going to help.

I have found where the errors were coming from in Node Red, it was Alexa-Local I believe. I added it following a tutorial, but never managed to get it to work but never deleted it. now deleted and no errors in my log(yes this is the system log, but I don’t know how to get up any other log as Logger has disapeared from the side bar). see new log below.

I could probably remove the Hive lines now as I have added the Hive integration via HACS.

Everything is back to working now, except for the invalid config notifiaction and the associated issues there.

The log we need to see is homeassistant.log which is in the same directory as your config file.

thanks again for replying. Please go easy as i am a nooby here, only about 4 weeks in and still learning.

I am really unsure as to how i access this. As I have noted, I do not have the logger in the side bar any longer, and i cannot access the files via samba now either. Is there another way to do this? I have tried to look for the answer, but am struggling.

Unfortunately I don’t run HA Supervised, so I can’t help you on that front. If you can’t access files via Samba, your only way in may be through SSH and the command line.

Worst case, I could roll back to my last snapshot and redo the configrations I have done since then(was probably more ‘learning time’ than actual configuration). BUT, I would like to know what I have done wrong so I dont make the same mistake again.

looks like the sqlite database that records entity states and history might have an issue. If you don’t care about historical data right prior to right now (graphs, sensor states, etc), shutdown home assistant, delete the file with “v2” in the name in the same folder as your config file and the log file (that’s the database the error is complaining about), and restart home assistant and try again.

Thanks for the advice. I will have a go tomorrow and come back here to advise how I get on. I am not bothered about data prior to now, so a nice solution. Just so I understand, the file has become corrupt? Is it likely something I have done? Really not sure how I would have done that, could it have been a node red contrib?

Did you restore a snapshot ? Restoring a snapshot often results in database corruption.

I did. First I took a snapshot of where i was when i got the error notification, then did a restore of the last snapshot I had. I did this to see if the errors persisted, which they didnt. Did go back to the most recent one with the errors as I do want to understand what went wrong. To note, I did get all the error logs before I restored the snapshot. Is this a common issue then? Just curious, if a snapshot can corrupt the database, then why do we have them? Is this just a ‘sometimes’ kind of thing?(hope that makes sense)

Just to add, I hadn’t restored a snapshot before I got the original error notification I posted, this seemed to be for no reason( although I get I must have done something to make this happen, just dont know what, hence asking for help)

If you restore the snapshot from HA, HA is still running. So you are restoring the database, while the same time HA is writing to the same database. Hence the corruption.
