Are you answering someones question or is this just an advertisement?
Is Home Assistant involved in some way?
This is me informing interested users about this new device.
And yes, there is a Home Assistant Plugwise integration, which will be updated for this new device.
Hi,
Any news on this? I’m thinking of buying the Emma Wired Pro, but if it doesn’t work in or cant connect to Home Assistant, I don’t have use for it.
The Emma connected to the Adam already worked before any specific update for it ![]()
Also, there will be minor improvements for the Emma Pro in the 2025.11.0 release.
When not connected to the Adam, there’s initial support added to ZigBee2MQTT, this support should be available in the v2.7.0 release
In my setup the Emma Wired Pro is direct connected via ZigBee without Adam.
This is what is showed in HA:
@pino I see you are using ZHA. Good to see that this kind-of works too.
I’ve been working on the Zb2Mqtt integration.
The latest news is that Plugwise is working on a ZigBee-related update that should correct the reported system-mode.
I’m waiting for that update to be released.
If Plugwise releases new firmware for the Emma, I’m curious if I can update it in Home Assistant, or if it’s only possible via the Plugwise Adam controller.
At the moment updating is only possible via the Adam.
But I will ask them to consider other ways of making the firmware available.
I’ve been working on getting the Emma Wired Pro to work in with my OpenTherm-enabled Bulex boiler, with mixed results.
What currently works:
What works but has bad performance:
What is not working in my setup:
My boiler does not have Smart Power on the OpenTherm interface. This causes the Emma to go into SED mode instead of Router mode. In this mode it seems to be polling the Zigbee network for new messages very infrequently, causing it to be impossible to send commands from Home Assistant to the Emma.
Additionally, it seems that the entire temperature control loop is running very slowly. This causes big steps in the input of the temperature controller, causing it to send extreme commands to the heating system, at a slow rate.
I’ve sent a few very detailed emails to Plugwise’s helpdesk, but up to now without satisfactory feedback.
Maybe @bouwew can check with the support and/or dev team to check?
@glennvdb How have you connected the Emma Pro to HA?
Via which ZigBee integration or add on?
I ordered the Emma Black a while ago, webshop says it will be in stock beginning of March so hopefully short after that I can test this new thermostat. Using the Anna for a few years now, never had a problem with it! But was looking for a replacement to have a nice black version and the Emma Pro works without the Smile bridge so thats a win ![]()
Will report my findings in a few weeks.
I use the standard ZHA ‘driver’ and the SONOFF Zigbee 3.0 USB Dongle Plus V2 .
Have you heard back from the Pluwise helpdesk? I am very curious on how they are handling your findings (and hopefully working towards a firmware update).
No, no reply yet… My last email dates from 3 weeks ago, and no reply received. Not a good indication for the quality of their customer support!
Aaaaaaand … a few days ago I finally got feedback. With good news.
Plugwise confirms my issues and are about to release a new firmware version to improve the interaction between Home Assistant and the Emma thermostat.
The only issue is that from FW v08 it is not possible to perform an OTA update from Home Assistant …
So, good news for potential buyers! Just make sure that your Emma is shipped with FW v10 or higher!
Hi Glenn,
I am also looking to buy the Emma Wired Pro, according to what I read you need their Adam HA hub to be able to link it to HA. Or did I read that incorrect ?
And are you using their room thermostats aswell ?
Thanks.
Support via ZHA or ZigBee2MQTT is also in the works, initial support is already there if you had read some older posts ![]()
Hello, I am new to HA and all that, but I have spent dozens of hours trying to figure out why my Vaillant is not working properly with the Emma Wired Pro. I have the VR33 module, the icons on both Emma (the flame in a box) and the signs shown by the boiler seem to indicate it’s properly connected, but the actual temperature is 2-3 degrees less than the target one. I have version 0.80, I didn’t know it was a faulty version before I bought it, and I went for this model specifically for the fact it doesn’t need Adam (one device less) to run on HA. I have managed to connect it to HA, but nothing much seems to happen or change. Target temp is still higher than actual temp.
