I run Blue Iris to monitor my cameras, you’ll have to set up the cameras as binary sensors. I’m traveling at the moment, I’m sure you can search for the how to
How much did you pay for the camera?
I think they were roughly US$34 plus postage (I’m in Australia but the postage wasn’t too bad)
That’s great price. Hope they will answer to the email
My contact there is Vivian ([email protected]). Try here directly if you don’t get anything from the general email
what you recommend to get, links?
Are you aware of long flat ethernet cable (in one installation I may prefer go “under” a window)?
Which lens you recommend?
Did ytou try the external speaker/mic?
Sent email to Viviana, let’s see if she answers
Get all the gear from CCDcam. They sell the whole lot.
I have seen flat ethernet cable on Banggood.
The dome camera that I provided the link for above has a varifocal lens, 2.8~12mm which covers anything you need
240usd for 3 camera shipped.
What NVR are you using?
I’m buying a security system and several surveillance products right now and I contacted CCDCAM for their price list on the cameras. I think I’m going to get 3 of the 5MP cameras you linked earlier. What NVR would I need from them in order to connect them and view the livestreams via home assistant?
Or you said you weren’t using HA right now with your CCDCAM’s? I need live monitoring as well as motion sensor recording or ~7 days of backed up footage.
Also, I’m not sure if you know how to do this but I want to install a mic/speaker to the CCDCAM that is on my front porch for doorbell communication. Are you familiar with how to do that? Is the audio data transferred normally through the POE cable with the video feed?
the cameras have rca jack for external mic and external speaker. I would assume all goes back with the POE cable (no other way)
Thank you for the response. Did you already receive your cameras from them? How long did the shipping take?
Also, did you order a DVR? I’m trying to decide if I should go with one of their compatible hardware DVR’s or try to run a software DVR solution on an old PC.
not yet.
Same doubt as you
I have HikVision 4MP 4mm PoE Cameras, and I am extremely satisfied with them. I have four of them, and I want to get more if I can. They work well with my NAS and also integrates well with Home Assistant.
Yeah I’ve been looking into some Hikvision dome cameras. For some reason I just don’t like the look of the bullets even though they are always cheaper. The dome cameras I’m looking into aren’t even PTZ so there is no real reason to get domes aside for me it’s just aesthetic appeal.
What made you decide on using a NAS rather than an NVR or software solution? I’ve been reading about the options for connecting 4+ cameras to a server then to HA but I don’t really understand the pros/cons of each.
Interesting… I have these cameras mounted outside the house, and I would like people to notice them that the cameras are watching them. If it is indoor, I would probably want something inconspicuous. I have a QNAP NAS already at home, and it is the only reason I decided to use, and it works great as well. The HA is connected to my cameras directly (using IP addresses in the same subnet). It does not go through my NAS. I do not use NVR, and I can’t really comment on it
Here are my 2 cents: https://reolink.com/
I have the bullets 410, and they work fine with Hass, view only since there is not much to control on them.
I have also Foscam, but in my area the Foscam is more expensive and less features than Reolink.
From my point they are the best for the price, and the support is very prompt.
Ohhh those look nice. Do they support motion events in HA?
I have a Hikvision 4MP bullet camera that I’m happy with - a DS-2CD2042WD-I.
I was using Zoneminder to do motion detection and I’m now using Surveillance Station on a Synology NAS to do 24x7 recording with detection of motion done via Surveillance Station. It may be the same software on the Qnap.
I have the lower resolution substeam set up as a camera in HA. I’m yet to link motion detection into HA, as I’m still tweaking the sensitivity to cut down on false alarms.
Is it better software then zoneminder?
@w1ll1am23
I don’t think they support motion events. But also I don’t think it is hard to adapt.
In my system it is “view only” since they are connected to the NVR.
