Yes, when the keypad with numbers is wired to your garage door opener and on the outside of your house. Very common.
Okay, I stand corrected. Iâve only seen the keypad with numbers being wireless.
It seems like the existence a wired Security+ outdoor keypad should not prevent them from allowing non-security+ indoor keypads.
But the âcopyrightâ lawsuit against Skylink shows that again, they use âsecurityâ as an excuse when IP protection is the real motivation.
Basically, 20 years ago, Skylink created a universal remote that would work with Security+ rolling codes,
âThe District Court agreed with Skylink and because Chamberlain did not explicitly restrict the consumerâs use of alternate transmitters, this was deemed an unconditional sale that implicitly authorized customers to use other transmittersâ
They learned their lesson after they appealed but still lost the case. They would have to explicitly prevent 3rd parties from working. That means no universal remotes (wired or wireless) should work with their Security+ line of products.
I do worry if Paul Wieland (maker of Ratgdo) will soon be sued by Chamberlain. 20 years ago, Skylink created a wireless âuniversalâ remote that worked specifically for Security+ systems. They were sued by Chamberlain.
Chamberlain is not only hostile to the Home Automation / DIY community, but also anyone who facilitates use of unlicensed (unauthorized) 3rd party accessories.
I doubt it. More likely would start with a simple cease and desist if anything.
I am in Australia and have two Merlin MS105MYQ units that are a Chamberlain product that uses rolling codes. They have a yellow learn button, but the connections are a bit different.
Has anyone experience with these?
I still have a message about MyQ. I thought it would go away but it hasnât. Does anyone know how to get rid of this? Below are two screenshots that show the message. It says to remove integration entities but when I click on the link I donât have any integration entities.
Hopefully This works for you.
Can you please write up an issue on github mentioning that âYou canât delete a deprecated integration after itâs removed from HAâ.
I decided to search devices and entities for MyQ. I found three entities and one device. Once I deleted all of them and rebooted, the message went away. Should I still submit an issue since I no longer have it?
I know it has been mentioned before, but I really wanted to mention it again.
Anyone that has a MyQ garagedoor, get a RATGDO. I received mine a few days ago and it works like a charm, it is a lot better than the MyQ app and it has much more features like door opening percentage, light and sensor control and much more.
I highly recommend getting a RATGDO to fix the issues Chamberlain created!
Totally agree! Though for those like me that donât like to read everything before they start: you have to flash the device with your computer first. Itâs easy and browser-based but it must be doneâthis is also where you configure WiFi. Itâs easier to do before you install it on the door
Iâm trying to find a viable replacement for MyQ. This is the last integration I need to move into Home Assistant. We have a LiftMaster rolling gate on our carport. I hate that this is the only native app I have to keep. I will continue to follow the conversation until I hear a solid replacement. I trust you all!
The only replacement is to use some other physical device attached to your garage door opener. Like a relay soldered to a button on a remote or ratgdo.
Konnected now has a security+ / myq compatible controller that works like the ratgdo without extra sensors. It gives you all the features of the ratgdo.
Now Iâm torn to get a konnected or ratgdo!
Mostly I would lean toward ratgdo to support @PaulWielandâs work to get us here. I doubt Konnected has any legal reason to support him, I but would be curious if they are.
Konnected doesnât ship till March, looks like Paul is about 2 weeks out based on the status page.
Unless konnected allows the audio-visual warnings to be disabled, I consider them a NEGATIVE. If they allow configuration, then options are always a plus. Probably will depend on if they think there is a liability issue.
Even with MyQ, I had the relays soldered to remotes hack just to avoid the delays, MyQ was mostly just for door status at that point.
I stumbled here for the same reason, but have a slightly different solution: when clicking the error message it would take me to a broken / useless page that should have had a delete button. I poked around a bit and went over to my Devices, found one of my garage doors, then by clicking through from there I was able to see and delete the integration.
Several years ago, I got a thing in the mail to get a free myQ Homekit bridge. Iâve had that installed for quite a while and Homekit tells me when my door opens or closes and I can open and close from Homekit.
When the myQ - HA integration stopped working I set up a helper toggle switch and exposed it to homekit. Then, added automations in homekit to turn the toggle on or off when the door opens or closes.
Seems to be working fine so far.
Iâm having some circuitboards left over for building the opensource version of ratgdo esphome is someone interested? Only a D1 ESP32 is additional nessecary.
I received two 829LM units with my Liftmaster system. I connected a relay across the push buttons on these units and use a Zooz controller to momentarily close the circuit. This enables me to close either of my doors without relying on any MyQ integration. These units only allow a door-close and not a door-open. I NEVER want any automated garage door opening at my house. Thatâs a security risk. I close the doors after theyâve been open a pre-determined amount of time. I also close them when my wife and I have left home.
