as long as we return an image here, yup!
Is this still broken?! I Get an API error on startup.
Starting at 01:00 (CET) the Ring doesn’t work anymore, i get the following error:
2019-12-19 07:46:58 ERROR (SyncWorker_25) [homeassistant.components.ring] Unable to connect to Ring service: 403 Client Error: Forbidden for url: https://api.ring.com/clients_api/session
2019-12-19 07:46:58 ERROR (MainThread) [homeassistant.setup] Setup failed for ring: Integration failed to initialize.
Same here

My integration stopped working yesterday. Anyone figure it out yet?
Yep same here.
On 0.103.0 and restarted for another and now it won’t load with same error - was working fine up to then.
Word of advice guys: Create a new thread. No one is going to help you in feature requests. It’s not a part of the forums that people who help others go to help others. Create a new post in the configuration section and someone will respond. I personally happened to stumble on the thread.
There’s a thread for that:
Any chance we can add the ability to set the doorbell volume from HA?
Sorry for resurrecting a zombie thread y’all, but it appears this chat thread has gotten far more attention for numerous Ring errors of the years than some of the GitHub issues. Did anyone else recently start getting Broken pipe
errors in their logs accompanied by loss of video feeds to Lovelace replaced by the broken picture icon and an “Idle” overlay?
I found an open issue on GitHub with similar log files to mine, but it hasn’t gotten any attention since it was opened back in March: Camera.entity: "camera.front_door" Ring Camera preview isn't working , other enities work fine. · Issue #47550 · home-assistant/core · GitHub
I’m getting
2021-06-26 15:29:54 WARNING (MainThread) [homeassistant.components.ring] Error fetching Ring active dings data: ('Connection aborted.', RemoteDisconnected('Remote end closed connection without response'))
nothing about a broken pipe tho.
EDIT: reloading the integration seems to have resolved it.
Reloading the integration resolves it only temporarily. It fails again within ~3min. The same happens when you reboot HA or get new motion (=new video).
What’s driving me crazy is that the feed from one doorbell or another will intermittently load or error out with the “idle” overlay. Without much insight, I’d guess it’s a safe bet that Ring has been messing with their API, but this is majorly frustrating!!
I need to research ONVIF compatible doorbells and cameras that work with Home Assistant so I can get out of Amazon’s hell clutch…
EDIT: Just for clarity, I have reloaded numerous times. Months ago I originally authenticated the integration with a “shared user” since I didn’t have the main password handy. Since this error began, I deleted the integration and reinstalled with the “owner” credentials. I’m having slightly less failure to loads (roughly like 6/7 times it errors out instead of 19/20 previously), but it’s still not anywhere close to the realm of satisfactory…
Same WARNING appeared in my HA logfile too.
Your lucky I am new to HA still and so far it’s been a strange experience, installing home assistant via docker on a cheap terramaster nas brings up every device automatically after install including netgear router etc but I get same error idle screen after 3, installing HA on qnap via docker nothing at all is auto detected and I have to add it all and god forbid I need to add custom code… but again ring does the same…
Now I have it installed via apache and a custom HA qpkg file on qnap but have core version and ring does not even show any image, installed and reloaded the integration a few times. It does not even show any image just idle all the time. Under entity it’s there as a camera but does not actually show a camera icon.
Anyone work out how to use HA to modify the volume of a chime?
