RPI 5 Installation HA other specific-purpose OS

I’ve installed Home Assistant on a RPI 5 using the other specific purpose OS option on the RPI imager v.1.8.5

Im finding some things are having problems installing such as HACS and Owl Solar PV.

Wouild I have lesser problems if I installed a basic RPI 5 installation and then added Home Assitant to it?

I’ve a RPI4 with HA and it is performing normally.

From memory, the RPi installer should get a recent version of HAOS.

Very much NO - you’d have a whole lot more work.

RPiOS + HASS != HAOS

  • HAOS gives a fully managed appliance.
  • HASS running on a host OS means you need to manage the OS and containers yourself.
