Please could the Settings shortcut that defaults to the bottom of the scrolling side bar be moved to the fixed element along with Notifications and User at the bottom of the sidebar.
This would save the need to regularly scroll up/down and would assist with house keeping by updates number showing alongside settings being more visible. This could be a simple change to improve housekeeping and reduce scrolling while we wait for the ability to save changes to the sidebar.
Thank you.
Alternatively, could Settings short cut in the sidebar default to the top instead of the bottom of the list.
Similar may apply for Developer Tools, but it is the Settings short cut that is bugging me and has the updates number showing.
Settings and Dev Tools are at the bottom of the list and cannot be moved, true, but you can just eliminate some of the list items that are seldom used by hold-clicking the word Home Assistant and ‘X’ -ing some of the items. Until / if your request is worked on, this may help you navigate better.
I want to +1 this (I’d +2 if I could). I have tried to have everything in my setup as automatic as possible, so most of the time when I’m in the HA interface it’s to change something in “Settings”. Either having it part of the stick section at the bottom or being able to move it up to the top would save me a lot of time and aggravation.
I have looked around the feature requests in this forum and one other user suggested the settings in the side bar be moved to below the notifications and above the user. I decided to open a new post as the last is outdated.
I feel that the current placement of the dev tools and settings is a huge oversight as these are both important in almost daily operations to maintain the system. If a user has a lot of add-ons that they also use daily, it would be pretty stupid to hide them.
I personally have a few hidden that I really never need to open, but on the rare occasion, i then have to un-hide them to access them.
For home assistant to be created to simplify peoples lives, automate things, and save time, having to do multiple steps is opposite to what HA is.
Having a long sidebar like you would need to remember to scroll down to be able to see settings and the update badge for example.
I have no idea how feature requests are handled and how the HA team works on getting them into an update, but I feel just relocating the settings would be very easy, almost like drag and drop. This would then allow every user who sits there organizing that sidebar to put the important things in view and leave the rest to scroll down if needed and not have to hide anything. Then when the day comes that you need to go into that add-on you just quickly scroll through and open it.
Lastly, also sorta mentioned this above, that updates happen almost daily, and those yellow badges are really key to keep things running smoothly, so i can not see why anyone would object to have settings sitting with notifications and when you open the page to work on your home you can instantly see if there are any yellow dots.
My request is almost the same but includes the dev tools, to have the bottom sidebar as; (complete oversight that the OP mentioned Dev tools aswell)
notifications
settings
developer tools
user.
tried to add traction to this as it has been annoying me pretty much since the day I started using HA. I doubt this will ever get into HA though. But glad to see I’m not the only one thinking about it
