Smartthings problem With Samsung TV ( tvchannelname )

Hi,

Does anyone else have problem with updating Samsung tv sensors from smartthings?
Sometime it works and show correct information on tvchannelname and sometimes not.

Integration reload wont help everytime and i really dont know how that works, because tv wont send correct attributes everytime to Samsung Smartthings cloud.

How you people have been fixed this if you had same problem?
I assume that smartthings is only integration for newer tv’s.

Might as well switch now if you can:

I Already have this in my logs

Thanx Tom, just removed Smartthings, and Installed above, working great … Hope so in November :joy:

For your Samsung TV:
Get rid of Smarthings altogether and install this :

Completely local and works for me since about 5 or 6 years.

Doubt it will work with My Washer

Well - the original question was not about washers and fridges - was it?
But I shall formulate my post more precisely!:upside_down_face:

Smart thing to do…
Did that last week and working smooth

ahh,i dropped out of that Topic ( was to much negative vibes there :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

It changed at the end

Yeah i see that now, good, i mean if one can’t do shit, then just move on … now it’s hopefully “solved” ( without killing anyone :joy:
Samsung might regret their “move”, as such “stunt” is not good publicity for their Brand

Too bad TV’s not working yet with localthings

I would use this, but seems it wont support TVChannelName entity. Thats the thing in my case

As you haven’t specified which Samsung TV, nor whether you have searched for ( or posting ) your specific Settings etc. , You could try to use the Search Function in here, or Google
If it’s i.e an Old TV, there are some “unmaintained” integrations in HACS, and most likely a fork( more reason updated version) of same in Github

And BTW , seems like there are ongoing “issues” in the CORE integration, So maybe you could report(open an Issue) for your “Specific” problem in Github, Maaybe the maintainer of this component haven’t lost hope/fait in Samsung yet

Issues · home-assistant/core · GitHub .

PS: i “updated” You Topic Header

Please read the very first post in this Forum ( Howto … ), with guidelines about which details, and how to post code, and relevant info , of your problem

Ohh, i just noticed, are you sure this integration (as linked to above) wouldn’t fit better for your TV
Samsung Smart TV - Home Assistant .

If Not there is a maintained HACS/Github extension of this Native Integration

Your Issue should be posted in the Smartthings Github
Issues · home-assistant/core · GitHub .

“…it wont support TVChannelName entity.,”

That is a bit generic Jessev83.

For anybody to help you, it would be helpful if you could describe

  • what you would like to do and
  • what is not working.

Sorry, missing that info. Here is how smartthings show that channel name information. Its coming from Samsung cloud api attribute tvChannelName:

That other Samsung integration does not have that option

Well, I still don’t quite understand what you are doing with that  !

So let me assume something:

You want a button in HA (named MTV3 HD) - that when you click on it calls up that TV station on your TV?

In that case

  • just note down the number of that channel you would like to select - in my example I am going to use channel nr. 4557
  • write a little script in HA with the following content

  • rename the script to MTV3 HD

and now you can run that script any way you want from HA - for example attach it to a button, or use matter-hub and voice command through alexa, make an icon to click on, etc. etc.

No, i want info for my card when i change channel on tv and it should show in card what channel is on tv.

OK now I understand - sorry, but no idea how to do that without Smarthings.

The good news - now that we found out, what exactly you want it to do  - someone else may have a bright idea !

Yes, it works now of course, but it use smartthings and sometimes there is big delay when that state update. I think tv’s wont polling to api cloud often or something.
Thats why i want channel info without smartthings and other reason is that Samsung start taking payment Smartthings.
