I recently set up an Aqara FP1E presence sensor with the Sensor Light Blueprint, which works well to keep the lights on when someone is in the room.
However I also want to only turn on the lights if the light level in the room is lower e.g. at night or on a darker day. The blueprint supports this but I hadn’t realised that the FP1E doesn’t have a lux sensor…
What are the best Zigbee options? It seems most are built into motion/presence sensors so I’m not sure why the FP1E omitted one. I’d consider an outdoor sensor if this might be better, but the main one I’ve seen is the Hue motion sensor which is quite pricey.
Thanks, I may look into that. Do you use the 24G Zigbee variant? And do you use it alone for presence and lux sensors?
It would be a shame not to use the FP1E as it was more expensive but it’s also a bit annoying to have 2 devices if 1 could suffice, and I’m trying to play around with placement etc. as I’m currently getting frequent false negatives and also it getting stuck in a false positive state so it’s not really been smooth sailing so far…
I use it indeed for determining how much daylight is in my living room and presence, mainly to control the lights.
I don’t think there was a difference beween 5.8 and 24G Zigbee when I bought them, so I assume I have the cheapest ones.
I use 2 in the living room, and both for presence and lux I have a helper that combines the 2 sensors into 1.
Good to know. I saw a review which said that lux sensor was fairly inaccurate perhaps due to the small opening in the housing, but you find it to be good enough to control the lights with?
