How would you “lock the remotes out at night”? That sounds like a good idea if thieves get into cars left outside.
Ratgdo can emulate the lock button found on some wall consoles. When in lock mode, wireless remotes are ignored.
I have my garage door opener plugged into a smart plug that gets turned off when alarm is armed.
Ryan - could you please point me to your solution that bypasses Cloud? Assuming it is still working after the press release last week:
Here is the Press Release from MyQ about shutting off 3rd Party Apps
A Message About our Decision to Prevent Unauthorized Usage of myQ
Chamberlain Group recently made the decision to prevent unauthorized usage of our MyQ ecosystem through third-party apps. This decision was made so that we can continue to provide the best…
Not a fan of #Paywall
When my GarBage door opener needs changing it will NOT be Chamberlain.
He was talking about the 819LMB Homekit Bridge. Officially discontinued, but still available for the moment from Amazon US, maybe elsewhere.
I ditched MyQ (the $29 model) - their service became painfully unreliable through their “security” changes.
My use case is control of garage open / close in a Tesla without buying their home link or subscribing to SaaS. I spent $50 on the Meross unit on Amazon. Yes, you have to hardwire and open / close sensor (all included in the kit), but it shows up as a home kit device in HA - zero dependency on cloud which is a HUGE bonus in terms of being future proofed. Only negative (aside from wiring) is that Meross doesn’t appear to have a native “delayed close” feature, so I just worked around this with an HA automation using a helper button / delay around the close action.
As many have said, they are making “wallet” decisions, let’s hit their wallet.
Just start making some noise:
- Fill out an application to integrate here: myQ Partners & Integrations | myQ
- Email the dan directly: [email protected], as well as [email protected]; [email protected]
- Message Dan Phillips on LinkedIn: Dan Phillips - Los Gatos, California, United States | Professional Profile | LinkedIn
- Leave a bad review on their app stores, iOS and Android
- Leave a bad product review for your product where you bought it.
- If it’s within the return window, return it as defective… because it is
I ordered a 821LMC from Kijiji fo $20. Installed it is working with my doors without any issues. It controls a door with the v2.0 security and one without.
MyQ setup was a big PITA.
We need to post publicly in major social media!! All these one off private messages and reviews won’t help much… The best is to expose them broad and public as possible to largest audience…
They are getting pummeled with neg reviews and even for issues unrelated to API integration, lol
IFTT for MyQ requires IFTT subscription and it will only let you CLOSE the door, NOT open it
Does the 819LMB actually…work? Have seen some very mixed reviews, some people say great, some people say stay far away.
First, thank you to @Lash-L for maintaining the integration and for the explanation. Don’t forget to buy him a cup of coffee! Luke is Creating open source projects
I’ve gone ahead and ordered the ratgdo (4 of them). Can’t wait to get them and be free of MyQ.
Any update on back orders for October orders?
Ended up getting the Meross MSG100HK for use with my Genie 2028 opener and ditched MyQ altogether, seems to be working great so far.
I just got the email that my 2 have shipped. I ordered mine on October 19th
That’s how I lost my hot water. Didn’t notice until the next morning.
There was a video somewhere where a relay was soldered onto a liftmater remote. Can’t seem to find it. Could someone share it if you are able to find?
Many thanks
You don’t really need a video for that. If you have a volt meter, take the 2 points and touch the leads on the button when it’s connected to your garage opener.
When you find the right combo… the garage will open. The volt meter completes the circuit as if you were pressing the button.
Once you find the right combo, you now know what to solder to.
They work. Getting the garage door paired was tricky for me. I had to try several times.
IIRC, I had to perform a factory reset on the opener to get it to pair.
I installed the homekit bridge and can still control all 5 of my doors with the MyQ app and HA
