TP-Link Kasa HS220 dimmer not found

I am rather new to HA, and recently installed a Kasa smart switch and smart dimmer. I installed the Kasa integration and HA was able to discover the switch but not the dimmer. I’ve been searching for help and found an open issue with the HS220 2.0 hardware not being recognized with this workaround posted: https://github.com/home-assistant/core/issues/39395#issuecomment-710068990. Can anyone give me some guidance on implementing the workaround? I have the SSH & Web Terminal add-on installed with protection mode off. I can run the command and get into the docker container but I can’t figure out how to modify the text and save it. Any help is appreciated!

It sounds like “discovery.py” is opened in the vi editor. If you’re stuck were I think you are, do a Google search on “how to use vi editor in Linux”. You should find instruction on how to insert and delete text using the editor. You’ll also want to look up the command to save your changes.

Hello,

I recently installed an HS220 dimmer and have the same problem, it’s not being discovered.

Will the fix be released soon or will I have to edit the discovery file?

Any help is appreciated.

HS220 dimmer with 2.0 hardware has the issue. Seems like it has an older firmware which TP Link is saying is the latest firmware for this hardware.
Hopefully TP Link can fix this
