TP Link Kasa Integration not getting my devices

I have some HS200 wall switches from TP link and no matter what i do, i can’t connect to them via Home assistant. The switches are in the Kasa App, even smarthings can control them.
What i tried so far:

  • Restart the home assistant

-Reboot the whole Virtualbox

-Clear cache from chrome

-adding the following to configuration.yaml:
tplink:
** discovery: true lso tried using “false” here)
switch:
- host: Device_IP
- host: Device_IP

  • give them static IP’s.

What i can’t try because i’m using the DyNDNS of my router already for a different purpose:

  • Connect Home assistant to the devices using Smarthings

Nothing works.
*************Note: Home assistant running from a virtualbox in ubuntu 20.04
Thanks

Have you updated the firmware of your devices?

Then your devices will no longer work locally / in HA as the local API was removed/blocked by TP-Link. Only devices on older firmware will work.

My recommendation: ditch the TP-Link stuff and get some Shelly plugs.

No, i have not, but it says that is the Latest version.

Thanks

I think its only he UK versions that have firmware that are locked down for third party access.

No, that’s definitely not limited to the UK.

Well, it’s a shame that is not going to work because of the firmware, homeassistant should put that inside the documentation just in case other users wants to buy those

It has been in there for months already.
Its the text just under the headline.

Three of my Kasa devices have been problematic for some time. Two wall switches and one plug occasionally loose a strong Wifi signal and I need to unplug the plug or cut the circuit breaker for the switches for them to reset. One of the switches finally died, so I replaced it with a new switch that I had laying around. In setting up the new switch, I was asked to update firmware and I did since that’s normally best practice. My espresso machine failed to turn on this morning, so I investigated and discovered that my 12 Kasa devices have been greatly devalued. I have switches linked to motion sensors that now don’t work. I’ll never buy anything from TP-Link again.

I might be a little late but I had the same problem until I got 2 new ones, I hooked them up and did not update the firmware restarted HA it found them and I just signed in with my UN & PW. So I went back to my other 2 that I did update the firmware and reset them to factory then did the same this time with no updates to FW and it worked great.
