Tracking wood pellet consumption

I came here convinced that someone would have already done this, but unfortunately couldn’t find any related posts.
I use a pellet stove to heat (part of) our home, so depending on how hard it has to work we have to dump 15kg bags of wood pellets into its hopper, I would like to track the consumption of this in HA.

I’ve already connected my stove to HA, through ESPHome and this custom component, so in theory it should be possible to calculate this by looking at the stove’s duty cycle and power level, but I feel that’s going to be a lot of work and never really accurate.

Instead I was thinking of just putting a button near the stove that we can click whenever we dump a bag into the stove, then HA should count 15kg pellets being consumed.

I’m unsure how I would configure this in HA: I know I need a sensor with the abolute pellet mass which has been used (incresing total), but I don’t know how I can create an action/trigger which adds 15kg to that absolute amount.

The simplest way would be an automation triggered by your button that adds 15 to an input number helper.

Or you could try a triggered template sensor.
