Tried to make a copy of SD card and now can't connect to HA

Well, I was trying to be proactive and make a copy of the 64GB micro SD card using a standalone SD card duplicator. It errored out because I tried to copy to a smaller capacity card. Once I change to copy to card to same size copy passed. Now my master will not let me connect to HA. I’m getting a message “Unable to connect to Home Assistant Retry” When I look at micro SD card with an adapter all of the files seem to be there. All of the dates are from the original install. Any ideas??

Did the IP address of your PI change when you powered down?

I would suggest plugging in a TV/monitor and watch the boot sequence to see if you are hanging up somewhere.

Hi Bluey,

No… The IP address is the same. Checked router port forwarding and everything looks okay.

Hi Dixey,

I’ve never done that… I’ll google it to how.

Thanks,

Keith

Forgot to say Thanks!!

I am assuming you are running on a PI, just plug a tv into the hdmi port, restart and watch.

What has port forwarding have to do with it? Nothing.

Here is a screenshot of the pi with a TV connected to HDMI port.
It just keeps scrolling this same data. Still can’t connect to it.

This looks like the bootloop problem. Check the MQTT V3 topic and delete the discovery.json file

Hello,

I no longer can see hassio under my Network using Windows Explorer.
With that said how would I delete the discovery.json file??

Keith

I used the ssh connection

check this:

Okay… let’s turn this PI into a workstation
Now with the monitor functioning, do you have a bluetooth or wifi keyboard with a dongle you can plug into one of the usb ports?
If so, you should be able to interrupt the loop you are in with a Ctrl-C and get a login prompt.

okay… I’m at a HassOS prompt.

login as hassio and try using the command line interface (i.e. hassio ha start)

a hassos prompt would be undesirable. Do you mean a Hassio prompt?

No… My prompt is hassOS.
How do I get to the hassio prompt??

try “boot system0” or “boot system1” ?

I’m still in boot loop mode.
I’m not able to log in with my user and password.

What is looping in this situation is the supervisor. If you can get back to that place from your picture, you hit enter and then use “root”.
