TrueNAS integration

Can you ping the TrueNAS IP from Home Assistant?

Maybe this will help.

If you want to access TrueNAS SCALE from a VM, you have multiple options. If your system has more than one physical interface, you can assign your VMs to a NIC other than the primary one your TrueNAS server uses. This method makes communication more flexible, but does not offer the potential speed of a bridge.

If you have only one physical interface, you must create a bridge interface for the VM to use.

Nope, there is no answer from ping. Thanks for your advice, I’ll try it next week.

So, I made the bridge and everything seems well, but unfortunately, some issues persist…
Could anybody help me again? I’ve spent a few hours repeated checking all things like access permission to the directory etc. - no solution yet :frowning:

ping from HA to NAS is OK
hass_ping

The bridge is set correctly (at least I hope so)

But Samba BackUp still beats me down :frowning:

Done, I had to add an entry with FULL permission for homeassistant Samba backup Add-on user in “Edit Share ACL”. My stupid fault :frowning:

Same issue, and I am following the directions above and run into the inability to remove the IP of the current interface. All VMs are shut down, and I do not even have any applications installed, but I receive this notification.

(my interface IP) is being consumed by Applications, please use a different node IP in applications configuration.

I am wondering how to complete this with the Applications service running or how to shut down the application service to allow unbinding of the IP to create the bridge and bind the IP to said bridge from the interface.

Answer found in Truenas forums, in Apps, unsetting the pool for apps shuts down the apps service. Made changes, and reassigned pool to the original. All is good.

Hello Tomaae,

recently I am running TrueNAS and installed your integration to monitor it.
However it shows all values as zeros.
Do you have an idea on whats going on?

Hey,

got the same Issue and no Idea what to do

Same issue. All values are zero

Same issue.
However, my instance stopped working after I upgraded my TrueNAS to Cobia 23.10.1.3

Same issue here, no temps reporting, other values are reporting fine. worked up until my upgrade to cobia yesterday (clean install).

Same issue as Mosher — I can establish a connection and get some values, but many report as zero. HA 2024.2.4 and TrueNAS SCALE 23.10.2.

One thought is that I generated the API key from my secondary user (not root). That user has groups permissions for wheel, root, builtin_administrators, and builtin_users. I’ve not had time to generate the key from the built in root or admin users.

same here with scale, with truenas core works fine!

Any idea if this is still being updated ? Github is basicly commit free for 7 months.
Same issue as above. No temp readings in cobia :frowning:

Yes, it was not abandoned. Life just keeps getting in the way.

Thats cool. Cheers for getting back good to know its not abandoned. Live does always fine a way to do that.

Hello, I too have entities that are at zero (network cards, cpu, memory, temperature, arc). I use truenas scale version 23.10.2

everyone will on cobia, unles you use master

Is there a specific port that needs to be open between HA and Truenas? I get the no response error. I have HA running on a separate Vlan and only want to open the minimum number of ports needed….

Anyone? Still cannot use this feature.

On TrueNAS Core, Systems->General there’s a setting on which network address should the web interface respond. Check and add all needed IPs/FQDNs.
