Tube's ZB Coordinators and Routers (was Zigbee router on steroids?)

I thoroughly recommend zigbee2mqtt. I know some people love ZHA, but zigbee2mqtt does it for me.

Thanks, I hadnā€™t come across those instructions yet so thatā€™s perfect.

Is there a way to set up manually the IP address of the PoE coordinator (CC2652)?

youā€™ll need to compile a custom binary for the ESP32 with esphome.

Oh nuts I need to add the config for the PoE variant Okay ESPHome config for PoE variant is up on github now in the linked folder. sorry about that.

Would it make sanse to attach a bigger antenna? With higher gain or something. I know little about antennas tbh.

Higher gain = better performance. However beyond basic vertical antenna gain is achieved by changing the directionality. The power and sensitivity of a device is constant - you use an aerial with gain to focus that power at other devices at a cost of reducing power sent to unwanted areas.

I assume you are having coverage issues ? Do you have enough repeaters ?

Higher gain vertical style antenna flatten the radiation pattern into a donut shape i.e. less off centre vertical reception and then for even higher gain aerials elements are added that give better gain in one horizontal direction like TV aerials. The donut vertical might suit your setup however, longer distance but poorer off horizontal ie other floors coverage. PCB antenna usually do operate much better with external helical antenna as Tubeā€™s solutions already have.

Best tip is to ensure your unit is placed centrally to your devices creating as short a path as possible to all devices, especially repeaters. If a device is remote by quite a way ignore it as that is going to require repeaters anyway.

I accidentally disconnected power to my coordinator two days ago. After powering it up again about 24 hours ago, all my ZB devices are still showing as ā€œOfflineā€, and entities are ā€œUnavailableā€. I have five battery-powered devices and one signal repeater. I restarted HA about 16 hours ago, but only an IKEA button became available for a while. How can I reconnect all devices? I use ZHA.

Is the coordinator on your network - can you browse to the esphome web front end on it http://up

Is there anything in your HA logs?

Yes, I can reach the web frontend, and it is connected to HA.

The only error I can see in the logs is this:

2021-07-27 11:22:28 ERROR (MainThread) [homeassistant.components.websocket_api.http.connection] [140153883187856] Received invalid command: zha/devices/reconfigure

I tried to restart HA again, and get the same single error:

2021-07-27 14:01:04 ERROR (MainThread) [homeassistant.components.websocket_api.http.connection] [140699968519952] Received invalid command: zha/devices/reconfigure

The IKEA button has been working for a few hours now. Everything else is still unavailable.

Update: I briefly clicked the pairing button on my Aqara button, and it suddenly started working. That also worked for my Sonoff temperature and humidity sensor, but not for my Aqara motion detector. The repeater was offline simply because my son had unplugged it (:flushed:), and it connected right back up after plugging it in again.

So the only device still with issues is the Aqara motion detector. I can try to remove and re-add it. But this has me somewhat concerned: Is it expected after unplugging the coordinator that each unit needs to be reactivated? Currently I can live with that since I only have five units connected, but surely that canā€™t be how itā€™s supposed to work?

Likely more to do with the aqara devices looking to the unplugged repeater. They do not reliably search for a new parent.

Good point, that could be it. Not sure which devices were using the repeater and which were directly connected before. I removed and readded my Aqara motion sensor, and it is working again.

Hopefully next time the coordinator loses power for some reason, it will be a bit smoother. Thanks for your help

@tube0013 any chance you are able to ship to the UK? If so, do you have a rough idea of shipping costs? Iā€™m looking to get one of the USB coordinators. Any idea when you will get more built?

Also, just a side question - because this has the same family of CC2652, is this Thread compatible (not that I have anything Thread based)?

I ship the the UK frequently, so no issue there.

I actually have some now as a few offers to waiting list folks havenā€™t been followed up. Just sign up there if interested.

Thread is technically supported by the radio. That said itā€™s not supported by the firmware and the firmware developers have said they have no interest in doing so.

Hi,
i would like to buy a coordinator if possible with POE supply.
chipping to Belgium is possible ?
Best Regards,
Dirk

I ship to the EU as well. There is a waiting list form linked from the store home page. Waits on there for PoE currently is likely about a week.

Ok I allready applied one yesterday.
Email: [email protected]
Thanks

I signed up to the waiting list for the usb coordinator. Any idea how long roughly it would be roughly for these to be ready to go? Hopefully you can see me on the list (I put any colour housing, email begins with James.tā€¦.ā€¦ā€¦@outlook.com). Also, is payment by PayPal? Thanks

I send out checkout links when itā€™s your turn. Payment it through Square - any credit/debit card I believe. If PayPal is a must we can work something out.

As far as timing I need to look at the list, have been busy today and havenā€™t looked recently. But I can probably send this sooner than later as I have some made but the folks who signed up on the list have not bought them yet. (Well over 24 hours stayed Iā€™d hold them once checkout link is sent)

Its here!

So whats the best way to do this? Unplug the sonoff Zigbee coordinator. Add the Tubeszb as per the instuctions then readd all zigbee devices? Will they just come though as they were? or would it be better to remove all the current ones and start again? :frowning:
