Tuya? mmwave sensor?

Hey, has anyone tried to integrate one of these possibly generic mmwave sensor…

Im in the third world so the listing I see mentions its compatible with they Tuya smart and and Tuya zigbee 3 gagteway, but doesn’t exactly mention the brand of the device so…

Also how would i know the HA yellow built in zigbee might support it or not, before trying it of course… im new to most of this…

Here are the published specs:

Name: Human Body Presence Sensor
Input Voltage: DC5V/1A
Working Current: Less than 70mA
Wireless Protocol: Zigbee3.0
Stationery Detection Range: 0~600cm
Motion Detection Range: 0~1000cm
Illuminance Value: 0~3000Lux
Working Temperature: -10℃~55℃
Working Humidity: 0%~95%RH

I can also get my hands on this model if its recommended

Zigbee in the Yellow should be fine in general, but as for this particular sensor… as you may have discovered already the quality of Zigbee devices varies enormously. There are a couple of databases which can be quite helpful.

If you plan to use the Z2M integration, there’s a list of supported devices.

For the ZHA integration you can look for reported issues.

Otherwise, search this forum.

Tuya provide the cloud development and management platform used by a lot of manufacturers, they don’t actually make the devices, so their label isn’t a guarantee of product quality.

Bear in mind that Zigbee is a mesh network - for any sensor to work, it has to be supported by a large number of mains-powered routers. If you haven’t used it before, there are a lot of useful posts here:

@jackjourneyman thanks for the substantive response…
Yes, reading the last link did a pretty good job to confirm my worries, not only is it hard to find a good selection of known well working devices where i am, but with a concrete walled apartment and planning only a single one of these mmwave sensors in each room, I dont anticipate things working great, but well see…

I have been testing a number of these cheap Zigbee based devices, and sharing my results here: On a quest to find the “perfect” mmWave device.

These look like new models though, which I have not seen yet. I have tried some other models from Wenzhi though which look very similar (but not exactly) like the ones you have shown.

A lot of these are so similar, I probably should do as someone suggested and include some pictures with my reviews, as that seems the only way really to tell some of these apart.

You can read my linked post for lots more information (and perhaps ongoing testing) but so far I found almost all of these Tuya Zigbee devices very underwhelming. Many of them spam the Zigbee network, etc.

I totally read your review… only im in the 3rd world and only have the option of using a few devices i can get my hands on without selling a kidney.

But ya i think pics would really help, as i understand things like the tuya stuff is just a license and different manufactures make them differently. Its hard to know whats what when getting started.

a good post like yours is often quietly appreciated
