I managed to get it working in the end by disabling the 5Ghz band on my wifi and then going to the Broadlink App → General Wi-Fi Device → Smart setup Mode and following the steps from there.
Firmware updates - yes or no?
I have some of these Screwfix sockets, purchased last year. HA calls them AHC/U-01 with Firmware 46043
Is it worth updating firmware? I see mention of a 57053
My devices work well, just jabber a bit too much attempting to phone home to Broadlink every few minutes. Had to block 'em at the Firewall.
I know it’s years later but thought I’d add my thanks for this advice. Been trying for ages to sort this out on & off, no idea why I didn’t find this post earlier.\
So glad I found this post I’ve been trying to get my BG sockets working for some time.
After following lots of the suggestions, I eventually got a socket working using the BG Home app and the AP process. Once in Home Assistant it played perfectly, just need to get my other ones working now! ![]()
I have two of the BG plug adapters which are labelled AHC/U and had been using them with Google Home. They are discovered by the Broadlink integration but cannot be properly setup. I did get them working in HA by using the Broadlink app even though they were not added to that app. However after a software update to my HA Green they needed setting up again. Having wasted many hours on this, not helped by the fact that the Broadlink app will not proceed if your phone is connected to 5GHz WiFi, I decided to give up and use them for use on special occasions in Google Home.
I’ve given up on them as well after numerous drop outs and one failing. Shame, they could be quite good if they were reliable and had a decent integration route.
I have 10 in my house and 3 in my campervan, never had an issue with them over the past 3years approx.
I have UniFi WiFi network with about 80 devices on the 2.4ghz channels and the sockets never skip a beat according to my stats
That’s amazing for you Frank, I’m glad you’re happy but that 100% doesn’t help me in any way shape or form. I’ve got UniFi DM and when it was actually on the network it was connected to a UniFi U7 Pro less than 4 metres away so let’s not assume that because you had an awesome experience, everyone does.
I’ve got a BMW that works perfectly alright, how does that statement help anyone with a faulty BMW?
U7 products do not play nicely with IoT I believe, and it’s been posted many times on the internet…which is why I find it quite comical how people rush to have the biggest and best just because they can without understanding what the downsides will be

just because it doesn’t work for you but it does for everyone else, doesn’t mean that they are wrong, but it does mean you might be
Many incorrect assumptions there to reach that conclusion.
no more assumptions than you have made yourself…U7 devices don’t play nicely with IoT, that is well publicised on many forums and threads…having to be the first with shiny new kit to flex appears to have caused you more issues than you hoped I guess
I currently have four of these sockets set up in the BG app. Could you please explain how you managed to get them working in Home Assistant? Thank you
Hi @Fireblade
I currently have four of these sockets set up in the BG app. What would be the best way to add them to HA in year 2025? Thanks
