USB webcam for PC (non-RPi)

I’m shopping for a USB webcam that works with Home Assistant. It will only be looking at my room.

Has anyone tried this webcam from “papalook?” Although I’m unfamiliar with the brand, but it does have good reviews.

What other webcams could you recommend that is low-cost (budget: $30 or less)?

I don’t mind network-based, but if anyone recommends a webcam that has an Ethernet connection, I don’t want any cloud-based features at all, let alone a default hard-coded username/password that cannot be changed, so I want to stick with USB if that’s possible.

And no, I’m not crazy to embrace Internet of Things, even though it’s not relevant to what I want for monitoring my room.

In the following blog post I used an old Logitech cam.

Seems like the C270 is a well-known camera to go with that works with Linux. I will go with that then.

Thanks.
