Velux Active (HomeKit accessory) control via Home Assistant?

in my case HA offered a new integration from the point it started to see (discovered) the gateway on the same network, I don’t remember restarting the server

perfect got it working

missed a step

after resetting, need to go into the velux app, re-add it to the wifi then go to HA, reboot and boom

its picked the blinds and windows up as seperate items , how do i group them together as one entity so i can tap one button and they all open etc

also how do you get the windows to say open 20% as at the moment the button is either closed or fully open

you have to use a card that’s capable of that (e.g. mushroom layout card can do that)

thanks im using

                  - type: custom:cover-popup-card
                    entity: cover.velux_window_2
                    sliderService: cover.set_cover_position
                    actionsInARow: 2

but struggling on how todo the middle values and get it working properly.

So, the only way to integrate it on HA is to use HomeKit controller? No any API to sue?

I guess/ hope that they will update it to matter.

I also have now sun cover. But I guess I need to buy the netatmo velux hub? Only way to connect?

Yes, it use custom connection on 869 MHz…

I have few Velux Integra Solar (GGL MK06) at home and I plan to get the original electric Velux blinds.

Which gateway is the most stable and complete? I am still confused if I should get the old KLF 200 or the KIX 300 or there is something more recent.

Hi, your options are:

  • Velux KLF200
  • Velux KIX300 and
  • Somfy Tahomabox

I have tried all three. Nowadays there is the possibility for local control with all three products. KIX300 through Homekit controller, somfy tahomabox using the new firmware and the beta overkiz integration. However, the best solution for local control remains the klf200. Sometimes there are some issues after restarting homeassistant. However, these issuses can be solved using a “restart automation” and probably a smart plug to restart klf200, if needed. There is also a very good integration for klf200 in fhem. This allows some additional actions.

Do you mind sharing pros and cons of each solution?
Do they read the current position, rain sensor and light?

Is it possible to control blinds with KLF200?

I use the KIX300 with Home Assistant and find it (nearly) flawless. I have 3 Velux windows and 2 blinds. It reads and controls the positions of these blinds and windows without any problems. It also reads the 2 sensors I have so I could control the windows using Home Assistant automations, but find Velux does this pretty well itself, the only exception being that I open the windows in the bedrooms to vent position once the children are asleep and before they normally wakeup to keep the air quality high.

My only problem is that sharing the windows back to Apple Home through HomeKit only shows one as a window, the others appear and blinds. This makes voice control through Siri difficult as it doesn’t register them as windows. The window motors are at different firmware versions, so I don’t know whether this contributes.

Great to hear - it seems the way to go.

Do you use the HomeKit integration to connect the KIX 300 to Home Assistant? I can’t see any other official integration. Is it local or cloud?

Hello,
I am using latest Home Assistant and have purchased a new Velux roof window. I have paired using homekit normally and I can see my Velux integra root window inside home assistant and control it. Which is great.

However, I am missing information from rain sensor that is integrated inside roof window, is it raining currently or not. I have checked JSON from download diagnostics and do not see the info.
Is this limitation from Velux, and where to contact them, to make the sensor information available on the HomeKit.

In parallel, when using Android app from Velux, I can see sensor status there, so sensor is working.

Is this Home Assistant / HomeKit issue about missing rain sensor, or velux gateway issue about not showing the sensor inside homekit protocol ? Thank you

today my velux shutter entities stopped syncing with HA, i just realized it when i was trying to operate the shutters but they didn’t move…

anyone experienced the same?

i’m really a noob for this, how can i repair it?

EDIT: i see now, log says ‘‘this entity is not supported by homekit_integration anymore’’ or something like that

in integrations setting i see it tries to connect ‘‘Timeout while waiting for connection to device 192.zzz.y.xxx:5001’’, but unsuccessful… :frowning: :frowning: :frowning:

what can i do now??? plz help!

Hope this will be helpful to someone:

Today received a KIG300 to control two shutters. I could install the gateway in the Velux Active App and control the shutters with the Velux app. I could also control the shutters with the Apple Home app on my Iphone.

But I could not add the shutters to HA, I got the error message “No unpaired devices could be found”

Then I deleted the Gateway from the Apple Home app and then the “VELUX Gateway” suddenly appeared in the HA Homekit Controller to configure. After configuration the shutters can be controlled from HA.

I found the tip to delete gateway form Apple Home app here: Home Kit Devices Not showing in Home Assistant ,

That’s the issue: HomeKit devices cannot be paired to more than one controller (hence the “no unpaired devices could be found” error). So you have to remove them from the Home app on iOS, possibly reset them (device-dependent), then add them to HA.

Right, HomeKit devices can only be paired to one Home (and in this case you want the Velux paired to the Home Assistant controller), however, Home Assistant lets you share them back out to Apple HomeKit using the HomeKit integration. This allows them to be used in both, and has worked great for me for the past couple of years.

Looping back to this comment, I just went through moving these from HomeKit direct to HA controller and ran into the same issue. Then I found you can change the show as to correctly identify it as a window in Home. Not sure if this is a new feature but I thought I should share for the next person.

Hi,

I also have a KIG 300 to control 4 blinds and 1 window. It’s working inside the Velux Active App and also in Apple HomeKit. I understood I need to remove the Apple HomeKit configuration in the Velux App and I need to “reset” the gateway to be found by Home Assistant again.

I tried to change only the WiFi settings in the gateway, hoping that it is beeing detected by HA again but nope. :frowning:

I really had some trouble to get the devices working in the Velux Active App, so I’m hoping someone has an idea to get the gateway detected in HA without doing a complete hard reset of the gateway.

Thanks in advance for your help.
