Voice Command for setting warm light with Ikea Tradfri and Google Assistant

Hi Folks,

a few weeks ago I configured the Google Assistant Component to control my Home Assistant via voice.
Everything works well and as expected.

I’m just struggling to find the correct voice command for setting warm white light with my Ikea Tradfri lights.
After some searching I found a document which describes the Tradfri white colour temperatures and their Tradfri names: http://www.ikea.com/ms/de_DE/media/kaufhilfen/beleuchtung/IKEAHomeSmart.pdf

This document describes colour temperatures between 1780 and 6000 Kelvin. If I remember correct HA supports colour temperatures between 2200 and 4000 Kelvin for Tradfri Lights

Only some of those names works with Google Assistant, and they set other colour temperatures as described in the official Ikea Tradfri document:

German: Ok Google, setze die Deckenlampe Küche auf Warmweiß
English: Ok Google, set the kitchen ceiling lamp to warm white
Will set the ceiling lamp to 331 Mired / 3021 Kelvin

German: Ok Google, setze die Deckenlampe Küche auf Kaltweiß
English: Ok Google, set the kitchen ceiling lamp to cold white
Will set the ceiling lamp to 249 Mired / 4016 Kelvin

German: Ok Google, setze die Deckenlampe Küche auf Tageslicht
English: Ok Google, set the kitchen ceiling lamp to daylight
Will set the ceiling lamp also to 249 Mired / 4016 Kelvin

None of the other possible names for white colour temperatures worked so far.
So I can’t set my lamps to real warm light around 2700 Kelvin and below by voice. :frowning:

Maybe someone of you has some advice for me?
Thanks in advance.

Hi,
I have the same issue, but in Italian.

I tried commands with the real Google Home device that speaks Italian.
I am able to ask Google to turn an IKEA lamp on or off and either to set the light %.
But when I ask anything about the light colour temperature Google answer that he can’t help me or that “the feature is not supported in your device”.
Of course Google does not answer to the question “what are the supported features of kitchen lamp”. So I start thinking is a problem of the IKEA Google implementation of the speech commands, or that the IKEA Google interface does not detect that my lamp is a lamp capable of change the kelvin value, and it thinks it is a fixed kelvin one, like the new low cost IKEA Tradfri lamps now in the market.
So:

  • from Home assistant panel I can control the light kelvin value.
  • from Google voice component I can’t
  • from a REAL Goggle Home device I can’t
I think is only a problem/bug related to IKEA -> Google interface they have to solve

It is no problem with the IKEA Tradfri Google Assistant implementation or the Home Assistant Google Assistant implementation.
In the meantime, I switched to Philips Hue for my lamp system.
Again, neither with the original Philips Hue implementation, nor with that one from Home Assistant’s color temperatures can be properly controlled via Google Assistant.

It seems that color temperature control just has not been properly integrated with Google Assistant so far.
Unfortunately, I have not been able to find any (developer) documents related to the supported color and color temperature functions over Google Assistant.
