I have many (8) switches, and 2 of them have pretty miserable connectivity(also reflected in the Wemo app). Is this common? My automations that drive these devices now must be considered probabilistic since some percent of the time they will be “unavailable” when the command comes to turn it on/off.
I have done a factory reset multiple times, no change. One of the switches is inside (30ft from the wifi router), one is on my porch (50ft from the same router). All of the other Wemo switches are 100% reliable… Is this common? or do I have a couple bad switches?
I have switches which do this too. Only a few feet from the wifi router. I’ve not figured out any pattern to it (was thinking there might be an update going through, or some sort of chatter to Wemo HQ).
I have the same problem, additionally one of my switches just seemed to stop working w/HA entirely. It still works through the Wemo app and through the Amazon Alexa app.
I was able to get the switch to come back by putting it in a different spot. Kind of odd though because the original spot was within feet of the router and almost line of sight, whereas the new switch location is much further away. All 3 of my Wemo switches still regularly drop in and out though.
Are you using discovery? I have turned that off, set up DHCP reservations and entered the IP addresses individually. Some switches are still being recognized about 50% of the time.
Also, I’m using a combination of smart plugs and wall switches. smart plugs are doing v well w occasional issues.
Problems that go away by themselves, come back by themselves.
At this point it looks like errors from another integration(Nest) may have been causing the issue with wemo switches not being recognized. I removed the other integrations and now the switches and plugs are recognized straight away.
I also turned off discovery and set DHCP reservations with static IPs. I actually started a different forum thread a while back where people recommended I do just that.
Ultimately static IPs did help some, but I still have reliability issues. All of my wemos are smart plugs. At this point I have largely made my peace with them and have relegated those plugs for low-use appliances. Eventually I’ll probably replace them with a different brand smart plug.
