What to do with Z-Wave JS the impossibility to group devices / access to settings

Hi

On april 2022, I migrated from Z-WAVE 1.4 (Deprecated) to Z-Wave JS, as it was HIGHLY recommended.

I lost so much time to do it, for nothing…
Since this migration, I’m not able to configure groups, to link switches to relay, to access to specific settings, etc.

3 years later, Z-Wave JS still doesn’t allow to do it. I don’t understand why using this Z-Wave (and keeping it in HA, updating it, etc.).

I was not alone to need this features : With Zwave-JS how to group (association) a relay to a thermostat ? SRT-321 - #8 by MichaelW

So, what to do to access to full features of Z-wave ? Accessing to specific settings of each devices, be able to group devices, etc.
I’m still stuck with my devices that I have to configure.

I use a Aeotec ZW090 Z-Stick GEN5 + 33 devices (relays, thermostats, smoke, switchs and some devices)

Thank you for your help

ZwaveJS UI supports group associations. Migrate over to that if you really need that functionality.

Pretty sure freshcoast made a guide for that. Let me see if I can find it.

EDIT: He posted it below.

Switch to Z-Wave JS UI if you want an easy way to use association groups. It’s possible with the core add-on but difficult.

Not sure what you mean by “specific settings”. HA with the core add-on allows access to all configuration parameters. What settings are you referring to that cannot be set?

Thank you for this so quick answer!

“specific settings” means that before, for each device, I was able to access to settings of each device (like option for Heat-IT thermostat : able to change the wake-up timing and… (I forgot, it was a long time).

I will read now your link.

Thank you.

Oh, Wake Up interval? Yeah, that’s not supported in the HA UI either but very easy to set with a service call. ZUI does support it in its UI, so another benefit of switching. Plus you get the Network map and better troubleshooting tools.

pouah!

It seems I sucdessfuly did it with your SO GOOD guide!

Thanks a lot!

Now, I have to discover the new interface, and find how to change group in my HEat-It switch (Z Push Button 8).
