Why Belena Etcher?

Belena Etcher download is 250Mb. This is pure bloatware. Rufus is 1.4Mb. It does the exact same thing and I can confirm version 3.172.1846 (Portable) works just as well. Can we stop telling users Balena is the only way?

Because balena etcher does the job without clutter. And Rufus has to many options in the interface to make someone f@ck up their USB drive.

lol are you using a usb drive thumb for storage? frits is right. every time i used rufus to make a usb for windows or linux either way it would be messed up. the only time i have ever mess up with etcher is when the software or the usb adapter borks it up.

I use Rufus or Win32DiskImager without a single problem.
Windows 10 always froze when testing Balena Etcher.
It is probably not possible to use it on weaker machines.

I’ve had the same experience.

using Win32DiskImager or Rufus has worked well.

Not true. In the latest version, it’s all minimal. In fact, I didn’t touch a single option. The defaults worked. Simply select the img.xz file and it does the rest.

In my case, not that it matters, I am using an SD card to USB adapter plugged into my Windows PC to burn the image.

Just downloaded 3.17:

Not so clean after all.

Where is it said it’s the only way?
