Wink/PubNub not updating

Man, I’m really starting to lose patients with Wink…at one time they were a great hub, but lots of problems recently…something is wrong with the company now to continually have these problems.

We are currently investigating reports of connectivity issues within the Wink system. This seems to be affecting in-app commands when not utilizing local control as well as voice commands.

Wink Status - Wink Connectivity & Voice Control Issues

Yeah it’s been going out non stop lately. So frustrating. I need to find a cheap zigbee alternative that doesn’t rely on the cloud.

Take a look at the husbzb-1 I have been using mine for probably a year now, no issues.

I have that zwave/zigbee stick - but I need to find a good thermostat that works with it. I hate the Sensi constantly going unresponsive with wink.

I use this https://www.gocontrol.com/detail.php?productId=3, worked with Wink and works with native zwave as well.

The only issue I have with it, is it shows up as two thermostats one for cool and one for heat, but there is a custom lovelace card to handle that in the frontend.

Yeah, I just bought the Aeotec Z-Stick Gen5 since I don’t have any zigbee stuff. I do have some Aeotec stuff that has worked well. Time to say goodbye to Wink at this point, too many outages lately.

ya, former Sensi user here. i don’t want to pile on, but my utility company had a discount offer for ecobee thermostats and i switched to that, happily so far.

wink is not in my config any more.

Still not working for others? Not updating for me.

Wink is working for me, but doesn’t feel as consistent as before and devices seem to respond slower. Big problem though is that the status of my door locks is not always accurate. I’ll lock a door, but it might or might not show locked…other times it will take 20-30 minutes before I get a locked status…little frustrating since security is sort of a big thing for people!

Wink is updating for me but extremely delayed…like hours delayed so basically just useless for the past week now. The first day that it started working it was delayed but just a little bit, which is still useless. The Sensi app works fine though. I really don’t want to replace them (I have two Sensi’s), ugh.

In case it matters, I submitted a case to both Wink and Sensi.

Do you have any issues with Zigbee devices going offline and showing as Unavailable in HA?

Like you I purchased a HUSBZB-1 to gain full local control. I have around 30 Ecosmart connected light bulbs, 2 Osram Lightify & 1 Sengled. For the most part everything works but I keep having issues where several lights will suddenly go offline. I have tried many things to improve this, I have ensured there is not any WiFi interference, I have moved my HA machine to different places in the house and I even brought 2 Zigbee repeaters from Ikea. Nothing has made any difference. I even installed HA on a different PC

I am thinking about firing my Wink Hub 2 back up and using local control just because my wife’s patience is running out lol

One thing I did find with my Wink Hub is that the Zigbee portion was rock solid

I haven’t noticed any issues with mine. I do have the stick setup on a USB extension cable to get it away from the system though.

I had some of these issue back on like the 0.70-0.80 releases but haven’t had anything recently.

I just moved my HA machine yesterday to a shelf on the entertainment system in the family room in my basement. I did use approx 4ft extension cable so the USB stick sits on the top shelf. I lost one light this morning. I am hoping that this is just the Zigbee network healing itself after I restored a snapshot on to a new machine (I am using a Dell Latitude 6430U)

I was hoping not too have to set everything up from scratch again

I’m not getting pubnub updates on my hassio. My SD card on my raspberry pi became corrupt on 9/1. Just got around to restoring my snapshots today. Not sure if it is related or not, or if since the 1st there have been issues with the pubnub subscriptions again.

I have set the logging to debug and here is all I am currently seeing:

2019-09-13 19:42:54 INFO (Thread-2) [pubnubsubhandler] PubNub subscribing
2019-09-13 19:43:54 DEBUG (EndpointThread-Subscribe-0) [pubnubsubhandler] PubNub disconnected (lost internet?)
2019-09-13 19:44:55 DEBUG (EndpointThread-Subscribe-0) [pubnubsubhandler] PubNub disconnected (lost internet?)
2019-09-13 19:45:56 DEBUG (EndpointThread-Subscribe-0) [pubnubsubhandler] PubNub disconnected (lost internet?)
2019-09-13 19:46:57 DEBUG (EndpointThread-Subscribe-0) [pubnubsubhandler] PubNub disconnected (lost internet?)

I’ve also lost local control of the wink hub.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

@jinx8402 did you reconnect your wink account in the your phone app?

@TheGardenMonkey

I can control my lights, it just takes longer due to local control failing and then the state does not update.

I stopped homeassistant and deleted the .wink.conf file to reconnect to wink and still the issue persists. Not sure if that is what you meant by reconnecting the wink account.

For me, I am using Wink only to interact with my Sensi thermostats. I had to go to the Wink app on my phone and re-authenticate my Wink to my Sensi’s. Not sure if that is applicable to your devices. Although even after I did that it sort of worked, but the states weren’t updating in any reasonable time for about a week. It started working again (i think a few days ago for me).

I am guessing it is a different issue though other than the fact that Wink just seems very unreliable. Personally I am pretty fed up with relying on Wink.

Well, my states are updating again when I have local control set to false. When set to true I still get an error that the local command failed and the states do not update after it sends the remote command.

I tried changing this the other night with no effect on state updates. So not sure what happened over the last day or so that it is now working when not using local control. I have made no other changes to my hassio install.

Sensi thermostats via Wink are completely borked again for me on 0.99.2

Anyone else seeing similar?

Aye! And to verify it is Wink and not me or a dead battery or an Internet outage at the beach shacks… I can access the sensi’s via sensi phone app no problem.
(I don’t think it’s HA .99.x fault. I get email notifications on Wink cloud status. Lately, I want to rename the Wink cloud as “Yo-yo”)
