What the Heck can I not easily control entities part of a group.
The entities belonging to a group may be listed in the attributes, but cannot be accessed. Neither via any kind of relationship as indicated in the following post:
[ WTH When an entity is in a group doesn’t the “Related” tab show “Part of the following groups”](WTH When an entity is in a group doesn't the "Related" tab show "Part of the following groups" - #2 by mathmaniac43)
nor directly. In the Philips Hue app for example when entering the Color Picker UI, it shows all the colors of all entities in a group.
Similar for cover groups. It would be helpful that even if only the cover group entity is put on the dashboard, that also the groups individual covers could be controlled from their.
I don’t understand. You still have access to the individual entities even though they are members of a group.
As an example. I have an Ikea MAGNARP lamp, which has three Hue bulbs within. These three Hue bulbs I have put in a group, as want to turn all on or off at the same time.
On my Dashboard I put a Card with the Group Entity. To again be able to turn all three bulbs on or off.
When I now want to change the colors individually, this cannot be done from the dashboard, as I cannot get to the individual entities via the group entity more info card.
It would be great as a minimum to jump to the related entities and even better if one would open the color wheel to see three dots for each individual entity (at least that is how Philips Hue handles it).
I just setup Hue at my parents place. Hue has a nice interface for this. I don’t think we need to copy exactly what they do, however it would be nice to have the ability to alter individual lights when grouped via the UI.
I can say that it was not immediately intuitive using the grouped color picker. But after a few minutes of playing around, it works pretty well and it was easy to get used to.
Yes, that is what I was trying to express. The Hue color picker is very nice, but it would already be a benefit if I could jump to the individual device from the dashboard which only has the group entity.
Basicly I’d like to have one colorwheel per light group/area/ scene where I can set the colors of all individual lights within that entity.
This is the only feature I’m missing after migrating away from Hue.
I can come close by using conditional cards /sections combined with the light entity card but changing the colors from one colorwheel would signifcantly improve the experience.
