Having worked professionally with other automation systems (both home and commercial space), one of my favourite ways to program keypad indicator lights is with scene states, something that Home Assistant lacks. I’ve found it really helps keep the indicators consistent with the actual status, especially when controlling devices from multiple places. It also makes it a lot easier to program buttons that toggle scenes (if scene is not active, apply it, if scene is active, turn lights off).
