Wyze sense sensor integrations

edit: duh… I had to click the sync button on the sensors (if I only read the github readme the first time!)

raspberry pi 4, hass.io image. I didn’t realize that I should plug the hyze adapter into my raspberry pi (not the wyze camera)… looks like progress, but wyze scan does not find my sensor. any suggestions?

When the sensor is in triple blink mode, does it stop reporting to Home Assistant?
all this time I’ve been checking for triple blinks thinking that’s when i need to promptly change the battery.
if it stops reporting then i can just wait until my automations stop, then replace the battery

I had one contact sensor failed, battery at 85%. Once I replaced battery it still didn’t report to HA. Then I use scan service and add it back, it’s working now.
However in the entity is showing up as binary_sensor.wyzesense, instead of binary_sensor.wyzesense_xxxxx where xxxx is mac address.
How can I get the mac address back for this contact sensor?

Unfortunately you can’t it is bricked and there is no known process of bringing it back I had 7 total brick I contacted wyze through web chat and they replaced them free of charge take my advice be firm with them but not rude and they should replace them without issue if they try to state that you are out of warranty tell them that this is a manufacturer defect and has nothing to do with your warranty, for shits and giggles ask them if the new replacements have the issue corrected as when I asked he told me 'they should be but just contact them if there is a problem"

Oh thanks. I am not aware it is bricked. Besides no mac address, it works fine. However if there is more such case, they will have same entity id and cause issue.
When you chatted with them, what did you tell them? Since we are using in HA with the bridge plugged into HA server instead of the wyze cam. What will be the symptom if the bridge is on the wyze cam?

To confirm check with the pin tool if your sensor blinks 5 times its toast. I have read many reports of people thinking that putting the bridge back on the camera will help but it has been confirmed that it will not I didn’t go into how I was using them figured no need to give them an out and the way we use them is actually no different than if they were on the camera the system does not know that I just told them that the sensor was bricked, that it blinks 5 times and reports a mac address of 0/0/0/0/0/0/0 with no sensor name, you’ll do fine they know this is a big issue and they seem to be keeping it quiet

I have not had an issue since pulling them into HA however check that you sensors are all working as they should if the battery goes dead for too long the unit is bricked and it may be causing the issue check if you have valid mac addresses if one went bad it should show a mac addresses like this 0/0/0/0/0/0/0 oh and don’t rely on battery level reporting they never report below 70% when they go dead at least in my experience which unfortunately is pretty good since I have had a total of 7 brick on me!

So I know people have asked about changing the response time down from 40 seconds and it’s known that it is not adjustable but the is an undocumented mode on the motion sensors that allows for no delay on motion. You can get this state by using the pin tool and doing a quick press then the standard 3 second press, once in this mode the sensors will flash there light everytime there is motion with no delay. Problem is this new state is not picked up by the hub. I am wondering if we can change the integration to capture this and be able to get them to report with no delay.

I stumbled upon this back in February by accident when I paired a sensor with the quick press and noticed the light flashing everytime I moved in front of it. I asked in the wyze forums and got a response about this being undocumented.

I’m seeing the same thing with my Wyze sensors - they show as unavailable after a reboot. Once I toggle the sensor (open a door or trigger motion) it shows the correct state. The thread is huge and I may have missed it, but did anyone get to the bottom of this?

It seems that a reboot also breaks communication from hub to sensor so it stands to reason that it would not remain persistent during a reboot

I think that’s because HA doesn’t know the current state of sensor upon reboot. You can set the initial state of each sensor. Sensors only sends state when it is triggered.

for those contact sensors that don’t trigger often (on windows for example), how can we get the battery status periodically such as once per week?
