Yale Assure Deadbolt lock with zwave module

Hi All

Have just installed a yale assure lock and swapped the original wireless module (zigbee I think) with a zwave module.

I manually set a root pin and then connected the lock to my HA zwave integration. HA in zwave see the device as “Assure Touchscreen Deadbolt” and all appears to be fine in the zwave connection.

However when I look at the device the only sensor it sees is Ping… no locked or unlocked indicator, no pin codes … nothing. In diagnostics its sees Last seen and Node status (Alive).

If I click on configure I dont see any Parameters listed which is where I think the issue is (and lack of knowledge).

I tried adding the yale integration and created a cloud account but cannot find a serial number etc to add a device.

Any advice would be appeciated greatly.

Thanks

Peter

Maybe provide a little more background.

What Z-wave add-on are you using?
Do you already have secure devices in your system?
Have you generated security keys?
What does the Z-wave log say when including the device?
What security level is the lock included at?

Thanks for the reply

Ive been usinga minimal of older zwave equipment from my previous house.

I had rebuilt a new HA about 2 years ago and just downloaded installed zwave integration and the old devices (power leads, window sensor) worked fine.

I was not aware until yesterday of zwave js UI so have installed that. Only just starting to work on it but its a bit different to what I had.

I will continue trying to get this up and running and advise results.

Cheers

ok the progress so far is to replace the default zwave integration with zwave js UI.

I used this post which I thought was one of the best technical howto’s I ever seen. Switching Z-Wave JS Addons with Minimal Downtime! Z-Wave JS (Official) to Z-Wave JS UI (Community)

My previous zwave devices are all reporting as expected.

Defaulted the lock (hardware) and rejoined the zwave network. Same issue It sees the device as

Device info

YRD226 / YRC226 / YRC246 / YRD256 / YRC256 / YRD446
by Yale

Configuration only shows Ping (press)

Diagnostics shows
Last Seen
Node Status
and 7 other disabled monitors dealing with such things as RSSI etc

But their is no other information. The zwave js UI web interface gives it all good excpet for a red on “no security” and configuration has no apparent parameters.

will keep working on it…

The most common issue that causes z-wave locks not to show up correctly in home assistant is that they get included with no security. Go to settings > devices and services > click on the number of devices below the z-wave logo > click on your device > then expand the z-wave info section. In the Highest security section you should see S0 Legacy or S2 Authenticated. If you don’t you will have to exclude the lock and readd to get it to work properly.

yep have done this… this thing is driving me nuts…

process default lock to factory
add mater pin code
put HA zwave into inclusiong mode (from both the js UI or through zwave inclusion) both in secure mode.

lock does not appear in UI web
lock appears in zwave integration inclusion mode (security) with not showing up its devices/monitors

got to be missing something basic here

wander if my zwave zstick gen5 ZW090 by AEON Labs Firmware 1.1 stick is not upto date or too old
or is the zwave module (Assa Abloy YRD-ZWM-1) supplied with the lock not capable.

… further investigation suggests it all should work but with lower security then current tech. Im at a point where I can get the device into HA but does not show or let you interact with anything usefull. extremely annoying

Did you try performing a reinterview?

Yes. Do you think an older gen5 zwave stick may be an issue

I don’t think so. I have a 500 series controller and I paired my lock in S0 and S2 mode. It worked perfectly. The only time the lock didn’t work was when it included with no security.

So i must be doing something wrong with incusion.

Cant see how this doesnt do security

The only way I was able to get this to work was to move the zwave usb sitck (attached to a vm of HA on a nuc) about 12in (30cm) from its normal position. (that was the only distance I could get before pulling stuff apart).

Then default lock and include again. This time it found the remaining sensors and included security. I do not know if this was the actual fix or something else happenned but I did read that signal strength could be a factor. Bit strange though that it could still pair and connect originally.

On a different note Im sure after 4 phone calls to Assa Abloy support in Australia that one day they will return my call…maybe…
