Z-wave JS change associations

Similar to this thread, is there a step by step guide to changing zwave parameters? I want to set associations in the switch.
This other thread hints that Z-Wave JS does not yet have this capability. Is that correct? If so, any idea when this will be available?

Is Z-Wave JS still without the ability to set associations?

I see some services for setting parameters, but I am not sure how to use that to set associations. I would like to have one zwave device control another. Simple in Vera. Currently using automation for this in HASS. I would like to use device to device.

Only zwavejs2mqtt can set assocations.

Thanks @freshcoast. Setting associations is in the plan for ZWave JS though correct? or do you know otherwise.

I, too, could really use a simple way to set associations in Z-Wave JS so that I could regain the functionality I had with Classic Z-Wave.
