I currently use a few Aqara Door & Window sensors across the house (MCCGQ11LM, the “old” Zigbee 1.2 version) to turn lights on/off. I’m trying to make my setup more failure proof and would like to switch from HA automations to direct Zigbee bindings wherever possible, but the Aqara sensors don’t seem to support binding.
Are there any other door/window/dry contact/reed sensors in the market that allow Zigbee binding to turn lights on/off?
Are the Aqara T1 sensors different in terms of supporting binding?
It might also be too big for my use case. I am trying to fit it into a switch wall box to make a dumb switch smart by soldering wires to the reed switch.
(I have no neutral wire and smart relays like Shelly 1L didn’t work well for me for switches that control a ceiling fan + light combo.)
Aqara MCCGQ11LM does not support binding as has been described in other places.
Sonoff SNZB-04 does not even show any bindable clusters in ZHA.
Moes Door&Window Sensor (white label Tuya TS0203) does show an OnOff cluster, but binding it to another device does not seem to have any effect.
Unless anyone has another recommendation, I am probably giving up on the idea of using a door/window sensor.
Another option would be to convert my light switch to a push switch with a Zigbee button under the hood that supports binding the OnOff cluster (e.g. my Sonoff SNZB-01 switch seems to be able to bind successfully).
