Either the core or OS update has crashed HA for way too many users. The issue being, HA is stuck on “loading data”…and HA folks haven’t released any guidance on resolving the issue.
For myself and hundreds or thousands of other users…can someone provide guidance on how to restore a backup when unable to even get past the HA startup?
Mine did not crash but the Alexa Integration stopped working.
I restored my HA to previous back-up.
When my HA (Yellow Box) does not start, then I power cycle the box and that (till now) always works.
BTW I use the Google backup Integration with an automatic daily backup and usually keep some 10 backups.
@asbril Also AMP is broken. The Custom Integration Devs for this project are considering abandoning it as basically
so it may be time to consider alternatives. If they do get it going again, it will be likely a band-aid fix and likely to break again.
@RLP1369 One of this might match your issue. Is so look at what they are doing there until there is a fix released.

With each core update there are always several people with issues and many may look alike, but the underlying cause might be very different.
It is rarely a general problem with HA, although it can happen, it usually it is a combination of things in the users setup or just hardware failure that happens to coincide with an update, where the hardware might be pushed a bit further than normal use.
The update to OS 14.00 also crashed my Raspberry Pi5, after many attempts I managed to load a backup that had been made with OS 13.2 using a USB stick with OS 13.2 on it (if you make a new one now it is made with OS 14.00).
Same here. Companion app crashes when navigating into integrarion section an when i want to change numeric values i get this all the time:
×××
Die Aktion number/set_value konnte nicht ausgeführt werden. Unable to avoid copy while creating an array as requested. If using np.array(obj, copy=False)
replace it with np.asarray(obj)
to allow a copy when needed (no behavior change in NumPy 1.x). For more details, see NumPy 2.0 migration guide — NumPy v2.3.dev0 Manual.

I only use the Alexa to broadcast messages and so far I have not had any issues. For streaming I use Google Chromecast which works great.
It becomes an issue for HA when companies, in order to promote their own ecosystem, remove or complicate their APIs. That is what happened with MyQ.
There was a dependency issue with AMP on 2024.12 but it was resolved within 24 hours (long before the post you replied to )…so you are right no real issue with HA 2024.12 (thankfully)
So, you suggest to upgrade again to 2024.12 or better to wait for 2024.12.1 ?
2024.12.1 is out now but I can’t find the notes for that version
They are here
Well HA 2024.12 plus AMP 5.0.1 work fine for me, so would guess you’re ok to upgrade. I did AMP first, rebooted then HA 2024.12 and all good…
Edit: AMP 5.0.1 working fine with 2024.12.1 too
I just did upgrade to 2024-12 and Alexa seems to work. So thanks to all.
This is a known issue for the Android companion app. A fix has been implemented. Just waiting on the Play store approval for the update release.
I tried to update to core 12.1 but that does not work. The system hangs and I have to restart the windows computer. After that the old version (11.0) is still active.
What can I do to get the update working?
Running HA in virtualbox on a windows 11 computer.
- Core 2024.11.0
- Supervisor 2024.11.4
- Operating System 14.0
- Frontend 20241106.0
You need to post your topic in a new thread.
This thread does not seem related to your issue at all.
OK, thanks. I thought this could be the same issue, but I’ll open a new thread.
hi everybody,
here the 2024.12.1 is not working at all,
especially in automation it displays translation error messages on conditions base on template sensors that i created to manage time&date stuffs.
i’ve restored the last full working version , the 2024.11.3
Why did you quote my post and then made a reply to it about your situation which clearly are not related to the thread either.
When a car does not run, then it might be lack of oil, lack of gsaoline, a potato stuffed ib the exhaust and so many more possible things.
There is a real issue with 2024.12…here, Reddit amongst others….way too many users that have systems hanging on “loading data”….it is an issue with that update or the corresponding core update
