Aqara new people presence sensor FP2

It seems to be getting worse daily. Mine has stopped being able to detect multiple people. Absolute shambles of a product release. I tried to leave a review on Amazon about the fact it was not ready for release and Amazon blocked my review!

Today I just got the information from Aqara support that a new app version and a new firmware will be available in 2 weeks. Fingers crossed. Iā€™ve addressed the issue with the ā€žghostsā€ and missing or not moving icons for people including different screen captures and videos.

As said, the more people contacting the support, they take the issue more seriously.

Just when you think it canā€™t get any worse, it does. MUCH WORSE

So we all have to reset absence state all the time as the app and sensor are terrible. Well, now you canā€™t even do that.

The little button is no longer there and instead it takes you to a different screen which says rather amusing Chinglish

Page not foundā€¦the sadness

Yes Aqara, the ^%&^&*% sadness!!! The frustration, the annoyance, the not fit for purpose product.

Ya Iā€™m staying on 1.1.6 for now. And I wonā€™t buy any more FP2s (I got six) if/until Aqara demonstrates they can release working firmware and iOS app. So far they canā€™t.

I created an automation in the aqara app that resets presence in a zone after a specified time 5 sec. Works like a PIR in my nodred. Its a hack per se but it does achieve my end-game goal.

I sometimes have the situation that when our washing machine is running the movement is registered. Mostly then a zone is in presence status. Thus, the light remains on as long as the washing machine is running. Do you have an idea how I can best create the automation?

Ideal would be to relocate the sensor so it wonā€™t see moving objects like the washing machine. This removes the root cause of your problem.

Yes the problem is that it is a relatively small room with 10sqm

So Aqara have released v3.2.5 of the iOS app today and itā€™s broken!!

The update release states:

Device settings optimised
Improved real-time data refresh performance of FP2

But the Reset to Absence Status no longer works, I just get the following error (tried about 10 times!!!)

**UPDATE - Finally got the reset absence to work but it took about 20 attempts. However, after resetting it still showed someone in the room when there was no-one there.

You can setup a ā€œzoneā€ that indicates itā€™s an interference source, and that should exclude the motion in that area from triggering presence. In Zone Management for that area, remove the area in question from any zone itā€™s in, then add a new zone. Thereā€™s a button for ATTRIBUTE that you can change to INTERFERENCE SOURCE. Add whatever area you need to that. I color my interference zones red so I can see them easily on the map.

If the washing machine is at the edge of the room, the other option is to define the edge of the room so that it doesnā€™t include that. I do that for all my windows. Itā€™s easier to pull the ā€œedgeā€ of the room in a bit than to define them as interference zones.

FWIW, anyone having an issue with the iOS Home app constantly showing the FP2 as ā€˜No Responseā€™, meaning you canā€™t delete it to get to add it to HA, turn off 5Ghz on your router, if you can, when installing it. Should be no problem then. Found this out after about 20 attempts

Letā€™s get together and give feedback to aqura so it can be fixed! Itā€™s so hard to have ios always being behind.

iOS app version 3.2.5 says in the release notes it is supposed to improve the real-time data refresh of the FP2. Iā€™m NOT upgrading firmware to 1.1.7, so I canā€™t verify if the real-time data refresh is faster or if it needs 1.1.7 for this enhancement.

Another app flaw that Iā€™ve found is between devices.

If youā€™re suffering from ghosts or movement not tracking in real time on one device app, try another.

For example, Iā€™ve found that my iPhone app does not show the same as my iPad app does. The iPad seems to be way more accurate. Very little experience of ghosts and it tracks me entering and moving around a room. But, with the iPhone open on the same map at the same time shows ghosts, no movement, and doesnā€™t clear when I leave a room unless I refresh (update) by selecting the menu (3 dots).

Iā€™m now using the iPad only to fine tune the presence and getting better results than when I was using the iPhone app.

Sadly I have to click the back arrow to go back to accessories then click the FP2 to get it to update where movement is on the map and that refresh sometimes removes ghosting

@c0ntax i can confirm that with the ipad i can pretty reliable use the ā€œliveā€ tracking to setup my home. But using my iphone 13 mini it kept freezing. Using the version 1.17 i also recognize a lot of ghosting :frowning:

Now the FP2 is finally showing up on AliExpress and in stock, Iā€™m thinking of getting one.

Anything I should be aware of?
Donā€™t have any apple devices here, just Androidā€¦

Also I see some listingā€™s on AliExpress say ā€œChinese versionā€ and others donā€™t mention it. I assume all the FP2 in existence are ā€œChinese versionā€ and there is not an international firmware version at the moment?

Yes, if you get lucky enough to have a firmware older than 1.1.7, donā€™t upgrade !
Otherwise, youā€™ll need to be patient (and frustrated) until Aqara fixes it.

Found the FP2 on AliExpress - and it states 3 different times

This is Chinese version, not Global version, when you connect with APP, you need choose the region to China Mainland, thanks.

So - based on that + think I read somewhere the China version doesnā€™t work in the US - am I right to assume this would be a dud?

Already own 1 FP2 US Version that is set-up in the Aqara App + HA.

The US version connects to US AWS services. Iā€™d hate to think what the Chinese version does. Stick with authentic US version, but only after they fix their terrible firmware issues.
