Australia - Electrically Certified Hardware

there are these on ebay also

Do you notice a hum from them?
I had come across these a while ago and all reviews said there was a noticeable electrical hum from them - hoping they have fixed that.

My personal experience with the NUE switches was poor, got some if you want them

I offered to Kevin to swap them for more downlights when he said he could not provide a firmware update for them but no deal. He said the fact they wouldn’t work wasn’t a warranty issue.

I have not bought anything from him since.

No hum noticed yet, i wonder if that is with the wifi ones and not zigbee

Mmm. That is my concern too and why I was going to stick to mainstream brands but then cost becomes the factor.

yeah, the next is the legrand arteor series but so expensive and for me ugly

What price?
I guess the other option is putting Philips hue dimmer switches everywhere.

i tried that route, family still turned the power off at the switch, then they didnt work as lights off

Ah, yep good point.
Not much choice then. Unless those Kogan ones can be flashed to tasmota.

I don’t mind the look of those Legrand ones - but do you HAVE to have the master switch as well as the bridge? Especially if using something like Z2M or deconz. Wondering if just the switches on their own would work because they start at around $49.

I’m using a bunch of these (and the 1- and 2-gangs)… but haven’t had any issues. have you tried reflashing (I seem to recall having to do some of mine twice to get them working properly)?

@nickrout Did you even get/flash those ceiling fans? I have one of the wall fans working, and am looking at the ceiling fans but don’t see any templates for them.

No I didn’t sorry. Didn’t pass the wife test - based on need not the look.

I believe you don’t need a master switch or bridge; you can control the individual switches direct from ZHA. However, you need a neutral wire! I got a couple without knowing about the neutral, as a result they are still sitting in one of my cupboards :frowning:

Took my family only a few days to get the hang of it.

Ah yep. Good note.
It’s a new house build so I’ll be ensuring the sparky puts neutral wires in.

Thanks for the reply - I’ll put these back on my list.

Yeah but its a workaround and not fool proff
Guests to the house have no idea and just see a switch. I use the hue dimmers to supplement a room, kids love them as they dont have to get out of bed(sigh)

Sure, I don’t disagree, but it’s just a flip of a switch.

The flip side is I don’t need a sparky to legally install and I don’t need a neutral to the switch. Both of these can be expensive for some people.

If I sell my house the new owner also doesn’t have to install and maintain a open source home automation system.

There are arguments on both sides

That’s the other thing on my mind - resell.
I may end up going with Clipsal push button switches and Stitchy’s in the wall (depending on price). Otherwise I’ll look at replacing each downlight with Hue downlights over time and supply hue dimmer switches to each room.
