Australia - Electrically Certified Hardware

Hey, thank you so much for the offer but this is the reply I got back from them, looks like AU is in the same boat :frowning:

Brent,
I am so sorry this is happening. We have had this issue now with all our AU ande NZ customers for the last 3 weeks and it is only with USPS.
Very sad and unfortunate - and extremely frustrating for us as a small business.
I hope this is resolved quickly and you can order again :)

Feel free to check back with us periodically.

I have issued that refund and it may take 24-48 hrs to process through Shopify.

Thank you,

Jean Begala

Ahh, I did read somewhere that USPS has suspended all services to AU, so must have included NZ in that too.

A shipping forwarder may get around that if they use a different carrier though.

Yeah wow - so we can strike a nuclear sub deal with the US but can’t figure out postage when flights are actually increasing now…

I know Australia Post has a mail forwarding service from the US, any chance NZ have a similar arrangement?

OK I can see where it’s going to be easier to use a separate motion sensor and some other WiFi switched light…
I bought a Zigbee UART module to have a play with Zigbee gear.

looks like Vidabox uses AU Post so might be able to get something from them, looks like I will have to pay a little extra, it’ll be worth it LOL

They do (or did, I dunno).

They absolutely do work in guest mode; that’s how I added mine!

First I needed to assign them IPs in my router,(easy since their MAC address is printed on the back) then add the IPs into the configuration.yaml;

tplink:

discovery: false

switch:

- host: x.x.x.10

- host: x.x.x.11

(formatting is broken but you get the idea, plus change the IPs obviously)

After you’ve done that, you just need to add them to your Wireless via the Kasa app and they appear in HA. I added them via Guest Mode.

Not as simple as I’d hoped, but they’re working now and haven’t dropped off. Besides, it’s easy enough to add more now that I know what to do.

You are indeed correct. It seems I was mixing those up with the KP303 Power Strip, which doesn’t support Guest Mode. My bad!

And for anyone interested, I found the list of what products support Guest mode

Yes, there is 5V and GND on the header. I have plans to build something with a small touch screen.Plans yes, time no.

I need to replace a failed inline bathroom exhaust fan.

This is similar to what I have and am thinking of.

My smart lights are currently always on at the switch and are turned on/off by motion sensors. I already have temp/humidity sensors in there too.

My initial thought was just to use a smart plug to turn it on/off based on presence and humidity.

But I notice that they tend to have two speeds so it would be nice to control that too.

Qs:
Any recommendations on makes/models of 150mm inline exhaust fans?
Any thoughts on speed control for these things?
I don’t really get how they switch speeds. Could this be a Shelly or esp32 job etc?

Thanks.

Edit:

Seems they either have a rocker switch like this one.

Or “connect via winding” like this one.

How much was the MyZone/iZone controller/sensors/dampeners? I have an existing ActronAir system with just upstairs/downstairs zones and no integration currently.

I have looked into my Rinnai gas hot water as it has the room controller port. Looks simple enough to add an ESPHome module and start trying to figure out the control scheme.

Where do you even start with that ?

I thought something similar a few years back when wanting to control my Daikin ducted AC.
I quickly realised I was way out of my depth and ended up hacking the existing controller to give me on / off control and feedback.

My day job is doing AV programming (Crestron/AMX/QSC/Extron/Cisco/etc…) so weird device integration is standard in my world. Mostly figure out the pinouts then try different serial protocols or encoding schemes. Sometimes you have to design custom hardware for the strange ones. Can usually get information from suppliers or dealers when you say you’re an integrator/programmer.

I have worked with Daikin and other VRV/F systems in residential and commercial. From BacNet to custom. Best product for home use for Daikin is the CoolMaster series of products. Doesn’t work with Actron (yet…?)

I would use a dual relay device like a Sonoff Dual R2 and use either Tasmota or ESPHome. Then you’d setup the relays as interlocking so that only one can be on at a time. There’s a few multi-speed fan examples for both those platforms

Aren’t the Arlec ones at Bunnings reflash-able?

Thanks I saw those and thought they may be the go.

@diramu - did you follow a guide to flash the pc399ha? I’m wanting to do the same. Cheers!

This might be the dumbest question ever, so my apologies if that’s the case. I bought two Mercator Ikuu devices to play with: a Walter 7w and a Walter 9w. They appear to be WiFi devices not zigbee, which is a surprise to me. I thought the Ikuu devices were all zigbee, which I have a slight preference for.

Certainly Mercator IkuĂź Walter 7W RGB-CCT LED Downlight IP44 (SMD4106W-RGB-ZB) Zigbee compatibility lists the Walter 7w version as being a zigbee device, and I see comments in this thread implying that the Walter 7w is a rebadged tuya zigbee device. https://www.lightingillusions.com.au/shop/downlights/mercator-smart-zigbee-walter-9w-cct-led-downlight-ip44-smd4109w-zb-42766 certainly says the 9w is a zigbee device.

Am I terribly confused? Has anyone got zigbee working on either of these devices or should I just stick with wifi? I find wifi a little less reliable is why I have a preference for zigbee. And secondly, how are people integrating these with home assistant? Reflashing with tasmota? Or something else?

I recall there being two versions they make. And only one of the versions come in black
