Thx Dave :pray::pray:, much appreciated!!!
Now I can finally put an old tablet near the front door that will cover up the gap the thermostat will leave behind as well as an old alarm control panel that never worked and that I’m replacing with HA security
That thermostat was the last thing preventing me from installing the tablet there and it’ll be nice to have a full control panel at the front door.
Wifey will be very happy :grinning:

Tadaaa, thx again @sparkydave now I’ve been able to go from this, which was where the old thermostat was and a non-functional alarm control panel:

to this:

Which is a 10 year old Sony Z2 tablet that was chronically underused and has now finally found its purpose in life :joy:
Really happy with how it’s turned out

Has anyone successful setup a two way switching arrangement with the Nue 3a switches using Zigbee2MQTT?

One of my switch gangs powers the actual light (lets call this the master endpoint), and on my other switch has nothing connected to the switch output but it has power (and is connected to Zigbee2Mqtt etc).

I created a group called “xxxx_light” which contains both the master endpoint and the secondary endpoint.
Either switch can then turn on and off the light fine.
If I toggle the secondary switch then the status light on the master endpoint gets updated.
However if I toggle the master switch then the secondary endpoint status doesn’t get updated (ie. thinks it is still in the previous state).

If I change the group status (from Home Assistant) then both the master/secondary lights get updated.

Anyone have any suggestions to fix it?

I use a Blueprint called “Blueprint to use
Link On/Off State of Multiple Devices”

Just enter the entities that need to be in sync, whether switches or lights, and it all takes care of itself😉

I was trying to get it work directly between the devices (with binding) without needing Home Assistant to get involved. But thanks for the feedback - that’s my workaround if I can’t get it working.

Some of my 3a switches I see have a “two way” function that apparently I can use to link them - the first one I’m trying to setup however contains a light/fan switch as one of the two switches.

Ah ok, sorry I haven’t done it via binding so can’t help you there.

OMG, I’m sorry to ask, but just can’t bring myself to read all 6106 posts from the last 7 years. Please ignore if you think that is unreasonable!

I’m looking for direction. I don’t expect anyone to solve my question

I want to wire my home with smart sockets/switches. I want them to monitor power and also work through automations and manually switching WITHOUT glowing lights on every switch (I don’t want to live in a christmas tree). I also want to ensure future functionality, so presumably want Matter compatible(?). Whilst I can plug a smart plug into every socket, I want to replace the outlet in the wall so they are neat, or maybe put Shelly-like modules behind existing switches. Also needs to be HA compatible, but also Apple/Android for whoever buys my house one day.

So, does anyone know of an up to date forum/blog that coveres what is currently available, recommendations, etc?

Thanks,
Matthew

also keen to know, looking for a decent switch, ideally zigbee and something that has actuated buttons vs touch controls

If you can’t find a specific switch that meets your needs for the styling that you want then look into using a smart relay behind the switch that you want to use in your home instead.

i,e an Aquara T2 relay is a zigbee based relay you can use.

As stated in another reply just above to another user a relay may be best option for you if you can’t find a smart socket that fits the styling that you like and has the power monitoring options included.

I have a T2 relay installed behind a power socket in the shared laundry room of my block that is tied to my unit to prevent abuse of it in the event the lock on it is broken by someone.

For whole home power monitoring you can look into devices like the Shelly 3EM to have installed by an electrician at the power board where your mains comes into the home, then just use some smart plugs for spots where needed for both control and extension of the mesh network.

Hi. Is this what you’re looking for? Products. Apparently a switch can pair with another switch and work without HA/WiFi. This product, specifically, looks to already be configured for it, and I think both switches need to be ‘2-way’ versions.

Thanks. I have a lot of Aqara sensors. I’m a little unsure about the capacity of the relays (10A, but only 5 per outlet, or combines somehow). I also assumed Aqara wouldn’t be certified for Australia, but it looks like they are, which is good. The Shelly Gen 3 mini relay is 8A, but Gen 2 not-mini are 16, they are also a lot cheaper, strangely, at least if bought locally (~$25 vs $69).

Relays are definitely a good option, if I can’t find suitable switches/outlets. They solve the illuminated switch and style issues outright! I’m still trying to work out what else is out there, and what amps I should be allowing for. I know a normal outlet is 10A, but is that per plug, or all outlets on the plate?

I found this too, way, way above! https://smarthomeautomation.wiki/

Anyway, thanks for letting me know about Aqara.

Normally the circuit GPOs share are 20 A rated but the individual outlets are 10 A. But that’s not a given. Since you’ll need an electrician to install such devices they can advise what the circuits and wiring are rated for.

I asked this on the FB group, but going to ask here too

Anyone else have issues with the Mercator Ikuu dimmers? My issue is that when turning them on via HA they ignore the brightness and turn on at whatever the previous brightness was (like a toggle on). So at 1am the light turns on at 100% instead of the 5% in the automation.

I’ve currently got a workaround with a template light with direct mqtt messages that seems to work, but it’s pretty hacky

I’ve raised an issue on the Z2M GitHub, but wondering if anyone else has this issue or a better workaround

Issue - Problem with TS0601 Dimmer handling brightness from Home Assistant ¡ Issue #24026 ¡ Koenkk/zigbee2mqtt ¡ GitHub

Hi everyone
is ther anything like Emporia Vue, that we can use here? i looked at IoTaWatt but thats going to cost alot. My option i can see is get some shelly em, but will need a few. i cant use the dimrail modules cos alot of my circults are higher then 16a. i would like to monitor a buch of circults at once, like all power points, all fans/lights and then all Aircons.

regards
Jeremy

Just tried it now without issue.
Automation was to turn on at 5% brightness and it did.

Just to confirm, my dimmer is one of these:

These ikuu dimmers are working great!

The only thing that I can’t get to work is transition time. But otherwise they are great very stable

I have never experienced this

Thanks mate, but just to confirm, was the previous brightness set at something different? It’s only when triggered via automation it seems to not work and just ignore the brightness… And you using Z2M or ZHA? Mine is Z2M.

I’m using the single press button dimmers. I do have a rotary on the way too

Otherwise maybe I’ve got other ZigBee issues

Great, thanks mate. Has me worried about my ZigBee network. You using Z2M or ZHA?
