Any idea if you could use the brilliant switch with a 3 speed fan, even if I have to flash, was planning on esp home.

I see they have a fan controller but would ideally like to just have the switches.

Which switches are you wanting to use? A fan can be run without a speed controller but it will simply be either off, or on at full speedā€¦

These ones https://www.brilliantsmart.com.au/smart-products/electrical/smart-elite/

You could either:

  1. wire the fan to the switch such that itā€™s on or on full speed (as I mentioned above)
  2. wire the smart switch to power the fan via a separate speed controller, where the smart switch will give you on/off control and the fan speed is set manually.

There is another option which requires the use of a 3 gang smart switch and some tricky interlocking but I wonā€™t go into that. All above to be done by a qualified electrician of course.

Any idea how to prototype out the esphome config for the brilliant fan controller without actually hooking up a fan, Iā€™m thinking of substituting a fan with a light to verify for testing?

It would require some investigation to figure out the GPIO allocation. For less than $100 delivered Iā€™m thinking of getting one and having a shot at it.

EDIT: call me crazyā€¦ I just bought 3 of them since they are on mega discount. Iā€™ll post my findings once I get them and try to flash with ESPhome

I canā€™t find them under $100??

As per @kanga_who 's post above, JDLighting have 40% off using the discount code BRILLIANT40, which brings them down to $71.40 plus postage

Short term memory here ā€¦ i even saw that on ozbargain! Cheers.

hey @1972rx2 I have tried your Downlight01.yaml with a 10w zemismart light and it flickers a lot changing modes and I canā€™t seem to get colours anymore ? Have you made any new adjustments to it?

I got one of these and was wondering if anyone has successfully flashed esphome on it? I would be willing to try but Iā€™ll have to wait for some cooler days. I can confirm that it is an esp but donā€™t have pics at the moment.

please get some photos when you can!

I got a reply from from the Trader Powermesh team

No, Zimi only talks to Google Home at the moment.
Apple Homekit and Alexa interaction will be added next year.
Our APP developers are also looking at developing an API to use with other control systems, but I am not sure what the timeframe for that will be, possibly 2021

I guess we can use the Homekit module to link to Hassio if it gets done next year, others have promised and failed to deliver.

Just successfully flashed one of the dimmable warm white led bulbs with the new Tuya Convert, DigiBlur has a recent youtube video for help, worked through that and got Tasmota running on it. had a good look at the wifi module I took out of the other one i bought for ā€œinvestigative purposesā€ eg using the BigCliveDotCom 16lb xray device (also available from Bunnings, look in the Hammer section), GPIO14 hooked into PWM1 is the only one you need to set up once you have got it connected into your wifi network

Did anyone ever have any luck with the Brilliant motion sensor Floodlights. They are like $30ea at Aldi now, and I have 4 of them sitting in my garage but I canā€™t get the things open. People arenā€™t reporting any lick with TuyaConvert 2.0 either I think. Did someone flash them with the wires? If so Iā€™ll keep working on building custom screwdriversā€¦

whats the chip inside them ?

I canā€™t get mine open, but can you tell from IamDanā€™s photos above?

**On the plus side I got the Proxmox TuyaConvert2 script working and managed to flash a Brilliant 3-point plug

Not sure if this has been posted but Harvey Norman are exclusive resellers for a new brand called Connect SmartHome

http://www.connectsmarthome.com.au/

Looks like they maybe using another reiteration of the Tuya Platform
And no doubt has the HN high mark up prices

Looks like someone has got them flashed successfully.

From the look of the photos @IamDan posted earlier in this thread, it is this SOC, which is an esp8266 https://smartpets.en.made-in-china.com/product/bBLnoemMgVrR/China-Rtl8710bn-Tuya-Wr3-WiFi-Smart-Product-Module-Develop.html

Same part number (P/N), different model, but isnā€™t all tuya stuff esp based?
