I have just had a notification from Ikea that a limited number is the INSPELNING plugs are in stock at the store in Canberra.

Showing as out of stock in every store.

Was in stock when I checked this morning after I got the email from them so the limited numbers bit was probably accurate.

Some people replace them. I decided to shy away from that kind of repair myself though.

Maybe with the INSPELNING someone who knows what they’re doing can buy one and do a tear down, and try to save us all from rushing out and buying them and learning the same lesson in 12months? They could be our hero!!!

I am testing things for a new house build.

In the old house as part of testing I put in a Clipsal Wiser icon wall switch plate and 3 wiser switches one dimmer for lights, one switch for heat lamps and one switch for the fan

All work flawlessly connected direct to HA

Expensive but for bathrooms at least I have decided on Clipsal Wiser

How much for switching for a bathroom?

Was preorder when I looked at the website. I’m going to hold out for the IKEA one but if someone is looking this place has some of the Oz Smart Things plugs by the looks of it Auto Happen Smart Power Plug

That’s wifi not zigbee like the Ikea version. So it will likely have the same 12 month lifespan. Also twice the price.

That’s weird. They are using the exact same images which is what I checked ….

There are a lot of smart plugs with that case.

Reckon you can get two INSPELNING side by side on outlet? I don’t think so from eyeballing the picture?

Doubt it. They are 70x70x70mm, so you’d need 70mm (35mm x2) between the earth holes of your double GPO. Standard GPO has more like 50mm.

Any suggestions on cheap single phase energy metering?

The Shelly 3em is currently $145 here:

But this offers 3 phase. Are there any cheaper 1 phase options with 100A current support?

I use an Iammeter one, but the Shelly is good value to be honest.

IAMMETER Bi-Directional Single Phase WiFi Energy Meter,WEM3080,150A,50Hz,Din Rail,Split Core CT,can Monitor Solar PV System, can Integrate with Home-Assistant, RCM Compliance IAMMETER Bi-Directional Single Phase WiFi Energy Meter,WEM3080,150A,50Hz,Din Rail,Split Core CT,can Monitor Solar PV System, can Integrate with Home-Assistant, RCM Compliance : Amazon.com.au: Home Improvement

It’s rated to 150A, and can be set-up for totally local, not cloud, for $135

It doesn’t have to be used with 3-phase. You could use it to monitor mains + two individual circuits of key interest.

Bunnings are having a sale on Arlec power monitoring plugs if anyone wants some ewaste in 12 months. (2 for $20)

Not sure what’s happened, but the INSPELNING plug has now been removed from the IKEA website. Hopefully they’re just relisting it under a new item number, as it was set to be in stock in a week or so.

Their marketing team saw how eager we were and decided they need to triple the price

I’m using one of these - so far so good.

Managed to pick up one of the Ikea INSPELNING plugs this week, it’s working fine so far.
