Yep that is pretty much the standard way to flash an esp chip.

Jaycar have smart plugs that look like the Kogan ones

Just wanted to check in with the folks who have the Grid Connect ceiling fans. Have there been any updates to the Tuya component that makes them visible in HA yet?

Cheers,

Linton

Decent markup on the Kogan prices tho!

This looks interesting too if you’re into Zigbee:

Hi,

First time post… I’ve been ramping up my Tasmota journey over the past 2 weeks. One of the devices I’m trying to get working is the Brilliant Smart Fan device from Bunnings. I’ve followed the 2 tutorials and conversations from a few months ago in this forum. I can get the device to appear in HA, and can configure it so I see the toggle buttons in the WebUI - but have had no luck actually controlling the light/fan (even though the remote still works).

Looking in my console on the device - I don’t seem to be getting any response from the MCU:

12:58:06 TYA: Send “55aa00000000ff”
12:58:08 WIF: Checking connection…
12:58:17 TYA: Send “55aa00000000ff”
12:58:28 WIF: Checking connection…
12:58:28 TYA: Send “55aa00000000ff”

Has anyone had any success with this device recently? I also noticed that the template has dropped off the Tasmota devices library too - so should I assume it means it no longer works?

Appreciate your thoughts…

Great (long) thread! And great to finally see some more choices available - even if still a premium.

Does anyone know a AS/NZ certified version of these? (WiFi or Zigbee)

I have one setup so that unit would be in wall and controlled by glass touch switches reprogrammed in ESPhome to be momentary so also working as 2-way with dimming control. All working great and meets my “must work with the wifi off” rule, but would be more comfortable with a certified device in the wall.
I have many of these (1,2,3 gang) https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32911085563.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.27424c4d7bQGzf which I got made with all white plastic which looks way better on the wall than the black ones around, so will look to replace them with local certified devices once I find the same. Not too keen on the Deta ones.

Wow, that thing is giant if these specs are correct

Width 132mm
Height 27mm
Depth 67mm

I purchased a 1 and 3 gang switch today. I have been unable to tuya-convert either of them. I was successful with the downlights last week, but Tuya-Convert just throws up the ‘Device did not appear with the intermediate firmware’ when trying to find either of these. What is the likelihood of them figuring out this new Tuya protocol and getting Tuya-convert working again? Should i just bite the bullet and get the USB and go the serial method?

I don’t have a 1-gang to compare to, but publish the version number on the circuit board, and we can see if it has changed with others out there who have tuya-converted the 1-gang.
I’m trying to 3D print a clamp to go over the tyua module to probe the pins to do the flash.

My first attempt failed, so I’ve ordered some pogo pins for my next try. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1047974798.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.65bb4c4dAaLyVY

No worries - i’ve got it installed now and with it being night now, don’t want to turn the lights off. I’ll take it off tomorrow and grab a photo. For now, i’ll revert to the tuya integration i guess.

certifed but a million dollary doos.

Thanks. They look good. How much are the Stitchy units? I couldn’t find anyone selling online.
I saw the Brilliant switches but have black plastic backing. I have asked them if available in white.
Now if only those switches has an input we could program for 2-way operation. And you could disable the led on the touch circles for bedroom use.

Blue led ring when on. No bulb symbol

I have heard the stitchy is $200 plus a unit. But yes they seem to only sell to trade so no pricing online. I think it was mentioned over in whirlpool

Trade price was around $100 when I got minemid last year

I’m brand new to flashing and i’m having a lot of trouble getting this to work. I think I understand the process but I can’t quite get my head around the configuration. Could someone please explain which areas of this I need to edit?
