The last reason for me to keep using homebridge is the lack of camera support in the HomeKit component. To me camera’s are one of je best features in HomeKit, so please add support for them in the HomeKit component
That depends on the implementation of camera accessories in HAP-python
. The related issue is https://github.com/ikalchev/HAP-python/issues/53
There has been a good progress on this. See the update on this thread
This will be the final frontier for HomeKit component to conquer !!
Yeah seems like it is on it’s way! Really looking forward to it!
So it is ready! When can we expect it implemented? https://github.com/ikalchev/HAP-python/issues/53#issuecomment-432812653
Once I find the time to implement it. Could be next week or in a few months. I’m pretty busy at the moment, unfortunately. If anybody wants to take the lead to get it done quicker, I’m happy to assist if needed.
Has there been any update on this front please. This is one update i am really waiting for. And thanks for all the work put in by giants big and small to get this working
I’m also very interested in this… any update?
If anyone wants to give this a try while it is not yet implemented through HA, here are my steps to get it running on a Raspberry PI with a Playstation Eye attached. It will create a dedicated Accessory which can be added in Homekit.
Also waiting for this one very much! keep up the good work!
Also looking forward to being able to pass on streaming video obtained via HA (using ffmpeg RTP commands) through to Homekit.
Will your solution allow streaming video & audio to be exposed to Homekit? (HK has RTP support defined in the Homekit API).
Thanks
Not sure how the process works. Is there a roadmap as to when this will be implemented or is it just ‘as and when’?
I’m still holding out for the homekit camera support!!
It looks like HAP-Python is all up to date - https://github.com/home-assistant/home-assistant/pull/18417
Someone just needs to bridge the home assistant camera over to the HomeKit component.
Dang! If only I knew how!
unfortunately I cannot help you in the implementation … any update from your side ?
Thank for your good job[quote=“cdce8p, post:6, topic:55359, full:true”]

It’s tough being on the bleeding edge of things. I was using the old homebridge manually installed service before finding this integrated component - the old one had camera tiles with images that updated every 12 seconds, but video streaming failed. Looking forward to this update!
I don’t think this will be done soon. I have been waiting for months for this haha. But instead I have shifted away from homekit completely and use the ios HA app instead. Works much better and is much more customizable. I have more than 60 devices/lights in Homekit and it really gets cluttered fast (also there is no way to order them properly) also when using Homekit whenever I restart Hass there is a chance that buttons get reset (e.g. button reverts to original name and default room, no longer included in any homekit automations etc).
However I still use homekit for Siri And having the camera component in Homekit would still be prefered (even if I do not use Homekit a lot anymore).
Great work though.
I have just started using homebridge as a complement to HA, only for the cameras though…
Is the home ridge component still working. I thought that support was withdrawn?
Is it possible to run home bridge and home assistant on the same PI?
