After a lot of fiddling around Plex told me it had access but it was never good lots of buffering and inability to browse folders. In the end I installed the Wire Guard add on. Bonus fewer port forwarding
Hi. question. 2 weeks ago the plex docker file was update on/in github to pull a newer plex version, but no new release was created. was this an oversight or on purpose? if it was on porpose is there a way to pull the new plex image to run it ni a supervised environment?
Hi, just did a fresh install of HA on Intel NUC (HA os) and wanted to check out the capability to run Plex on the same machine using the add-on (been running plex for many years on a windows server).
For some reason it fails almost immediately, not being able to start the plex server even. Seems like there is an issue resolving plex.tv, but it resolves just fine on any other machine at home. Have now tried this multiple times with fresh tokens, same result. Any ideas?
Iāve been playing around with the Plex settings and managed to get it crashed, uninstalling and reinstalling, restart HA, didnāt help. Iām seeing the following in the log:

I have a feeling some of the old settings are persisting. Is there a way to reset all the settings to default? Or maybe reach the settings via SSH?
Hey 2 questions here as I weigh moving from a standalone plex install peer to HA to this. I love the idea of having plex media server as an addon inside home assistant, but I want to get a bit of info while I weigh up that move.
- is it possible to add source/media directories that are network mounted onto the base hardware HA is running on?
- does this support encoding/transcoding that the base hardwares cpu supports?
just a note that I currently have plex media server running side by side to HA with no issues on a debian machine. Iām here because I want to move plex ito HA as an add-on. but I have some questions re including sources that were network mounted to the debian server as well as about using the cpu transcoding from the debian box.
Not a lot of activity in this forumā¦
Hi. Anyone might know why I get this message when trying to install this addon? Installing any other addon works just fine.
āCanāt install ghcr.io/hassio-addons/plex/aarch64:3.3.0: 500 Server Error for http+docker://localhost/v1.42/images/ghcr.io/hassio-addons/plex/aarch64:3.3.0/json: Internal Server Error (āreadlink /mnt/data/docker/overlay2/l: invalid argumentā)ā
Issue solved, turned out that the DNS container was broken in HAOS
Plex shows there is an update for the Plex Media Server running on āHome Assistantā I take it I just wait until the Add-On gets updated? Also HA add-on (3.3.2) shows Plex Media Server is running but sometime the app shows it as off-line? anyone else see this issue?
I am run HA on PI4 with Plex Server addon. I want to add some Client Profile to Plex, but i cannot find Plex folder, Plex configuration folder, Plex transcode folder in my PI4.
Just found this addon and I cant understand why it I didnt searche for a PMS addon earlier.
Anyway, I installed the addon successfully but how do I add media from my NAS to the library? It seems that only local media on the Home assistant machine is available?!
You can add network storage to Home Assistant in the Settings menu ā System ā Storage.
What about external disks? I have an external USB disk that I used to see with Samba NAS. Now, HA can mount automatically external drives and Samba NAS doesnāt have to mount it anymore. In qBittorrent addon I can see the disk mounted in /mnt/sdb1, but I canāt see it in Plex, there is nothing mounted in /mnt. Any ideas?
Does anyone know how to get hardware transcoding working? Plex see my intel igpu and I manually select it and have HW transcoding enabled, how ever nothing I transcode is using hardware acceleration, all transcoding is still being done on the CPU.
@frenck At first, thanks for the really useful addon. As i migrate my HA from an RP to an N95, i have free resources on my machine and i really like to use it for plex.
The installation was quite easy and snappy.
But now i do not have an idea, how to get the media from my external drive connected to plex. Do i have to configure something in HA? HA does recognize the USB hardware, but i donāt know how to connect it to the /share folder.
How do you update the Plex server, Plex WebUI shows update available & must install manually.
I have HAOS and the plex media server entity has an update available but only a button to skip.
I have the same issue here, the media shows up and work on my tablet, phone and browser, but my Samsung TVs do not, itās quite weird.
One thing I noticed is that my server running on HAOS shows as remote but the one I have already running on my PC shows as local and works perfectly.
I honestly donāt know what to do, Iāve tried a lot of things and nothing really helps.
hey all. Hoping someone can help me here. I am unable to obtain remote access to my PMS. I have followed the guide to enable remote access but it still does not work. What could I be missing?
