The lack of communication is astonishing. I’ve reached out repeatedly to Nabu Casa and Crowd Supply and received no response. The last project update was in December, and claimed that “chances are” all orders would be fulfilled by end of the year. Nobody seems to know anything, and all they can offer are hopes and dreams. When I ordered back in August I was excited for my introduction to the Home Assistant ecosystem. Now I’m just burnt out.
I’d guess they’re having issues sourcing enough CM4 modules.
I had originally ordered the PoE kit the first week of October 2021, i ordered the CM4 separately from a different supplier. Then when I realized that the supply was as much a problem as it was, I ordered one from Crowd Supply a month later in November 2021 as an insurance.
Crowd supply has cancelled that order because they cannot supply them separately apparently.
Luckily my original order with a separate supplier came through about a month before my Yellow came in (14 months after I originally ordered it). Coincidentally, I ordered a second one through them just 2 weeks prior to the original order shipping (when I got the shipping notice, I was amazed it went through so quickly, I thought it was the more recent order), so sometime next year, I’ll probably get a backup CM4.
Edit: I thought you ordered in September of 2022, didn’t notice I misread until after I posted. I don’t know what the issue is. Did you change your order? I had contemplated changing mine from the PoE to the full version, but that would have delayed mine even more as I would have been put at the back of the line.
That’s all well and good, but they should have been up-front about the issue and realistic in their estimates. Instead we get a string of broken promises. Two weeks ago, in another thread on this forum, @agners from Nabu Casa literally told me that “there are still batches on the way to Crowd Supply” and all orders would be met soon. If shipments are now another 5 months out, I don’t know what to conclude except that he was lying.

“So if you ordered a Home Assistant Yellow recently, you’ll likely have to be patient a bit longer. For now, we’ve set tentative shipping estimates of August 31, 2023 for all units that include the integrated CM4, though those estimates will very likely change as we get more news from Raspberry Pi .”
Clear as mud! Who’s betting that “recently” means units ordered in 2021 and 2022 and that “a bit longer” means months?
That’s good news. 
I’m running Yellow and the HomeMatic RF-USB interafce some time now. I didn’t get the bare RF module running in first place when I received my yellow out of first batch in August, Maybe I missed the correct pin orientation. Is there anywhere a sketch or picture for mounting the RF module to make life easier? 
We always tried to be upfront. Except when we misjudged transfer time in the very first shipment, our estimates were pretty accurate. The written updates are under our direct control, the estimated delivery dates in the Crowd Supply system are not under our direct control and have been wrong at times.
Be aware that there is a difference between “backers” and “pre-orders”. Also Kits and non-Kits version, as noted in the update, sourcing CM4s is still very hard.

Try getting network gear. It is still a mess also! Supply chain issues (aka: a lesson on not to put all your eggs in one basket). If you been paying attention, slowly the manufacturers have started to move production and spread it out more all over the world.
Please point me to the project update where this difference was ever made clear. I feel extremely misled.
Order cancelled and money already back in my credit card. Bought a mini-desktop PC (more or less same size as Yellow) for less money, it’s already been delivered, HA installed and all running like a dream.
Wasn’t confident enough with HA when I ordered Yellow to go down the DIY route, however many months later that’s changed, hence the purchase. There were a few stumbling blocks but if I could get round them I’m sure anyone could with the power of Google and YouTube.
Maybe some good experience? Orderd in November 22 a yellow kit and shipped today.

I took it as 2022, but as you point out it could be 22 November 202x.

I’ve just cancelled my order of the Yellow because delivery has now been pushed back to August - which would make it a year from the date I originally placed my order. However, it is mentioned that Yellow will be distributed via other sources now. Does anybody know how to get hold of one other than through crowd supply please?
Do you have a CM4 module for it ?
I originally ordered a POE unit but they were delayed so I additionally ordered a non POE and am using a spare but precious CM4. I believe I have sourced an additional CM4 WiFi too. My Yellow POE has arrived now too.
I am considering whether I should keep the non POE or place it on eBay (UK) when and if I do receive the extra CM4. (Days rather than weeks)
