Hi Silvio, I have multiple Echo Shows. It works perfectly on my 3rd generation device, but on the 1st generation, I can enter the data in the settings, yet it doesn’t seem to save. Every time I try to access it, the same settings page reappears. I hope there is a solution for it. Thanks for the great skill!

basically everything looks fine, but I get a black screen after starting the skill. Configuration checked several times, reinstalled skill, ha is accessible via silk…
What else could I check?
And if everything works: is there any way to start the skill from the home screen, or is this the right now missing widget?

won’t get a chance to have a play with this till next week, but is this any different to just running it in the Silk Browser (is this actually what it is)

Ciao Silvio ho appena collegato la tua Skill, dovrebbe essere davvero utile, ma sul mio echo show 5 dopo aver inserito i parametri se clicco su salva mi risponde che non c’è nulla da salvare perchè non ci sono cambiamenti e quando la rilancio mi richiede i parametri.

I have two Echo Show - Show 5 3rd Gen & Show 8 3rd Gen . I have gotten it to work only on the Show 8. I think the Silk installation on 5 is a lightweight version and therefor it never complete the loading the login screen.

Based on my experiences here is a bunch of different things to try while troubleshooting thru getting this working:

  • Say to Alexa ‘Alexa Open Silk’; This should open the Silk browser and allow you to see the settings and access any of the configuration. You can try and manually type in the web links into the URL.
  • Use a Proxied URL which has HTTPS instead of a local address will allow speak to wakeWord to be ready to use. This getting’s me further on a Show 5, but it just spins with loading have showing it does have the HA web server, but working on the authentication.
  • After you have it opening the page and have the login working and cached, then do the customizations to the page you are opening using wallpanel HACS Add-in.

Stuff I’m going to hack at to get the 5 g3 working.

  • using Combatchuck/home-assistant-on-echo-show No improvements
  • Look at long live token for authentication instead of user not sure how to inject that
  • See if there is a different way to get silk on echo Not promising
  • Give up on Show 5 g 3 and get another 8 or 15.

This is BRILLIANT!!! Thank you so much! I have been using Echo Shows for a few years and started with Home Assistant Last year. I have been looking for a way to display these dashboards on my echo shows and this finishes my home automation infrastructure! Here is a full listing of everything that I’ve done!

Question - is there a specific way that I should be entering the variables into the echo when I first start? It uses the correct URL and the port number - I used “https” and ‘Full’ and when it brings up the browser it shows ‘this site can’t be reached’ - I update the URL to add the https:// and it connects as expected. Should I be using all caps or mixed case when I answer the questions on the initial screen?
